Just a little camping
Who: Veronika and Landon
What: Camping
When: Saturday Night to start
Where: A small patch of woods not far from Landon's home
Warnings: Cuteness?
He knew there would be all sorts of weres out and about when the full moon came about, but Landon figured if they spent Saturday night out camping, they wouldn't be cutting it too close and would be safe out in the woods. He knew better than to dare risking Veronika's life for some camping so it was a precaution that he picked the smaller patch of woods near his home instead of heading out into the severely wooded areas elsewhere. At least they were less likely to run into any wild animals or weres running a rampage.
He'd helped her put her things into his old beat up truck and had already loaded his tent and a couple of sleeping bags and a cooler full of food to both just snack on and grill. When the reached the woods and he started setting up the tent, he couldn't help but continue stealing little glances at the pretty brunette he had for company. She sure beat the old radio he usually had around to listen to. "So have you've really never been camping?" he questioned.
Veronika was nervous about the whole camping trip, and she had been since it had been mentioned. How they came up with the conversation with camping she really couldn’t remember, but while she was nervous, she couldn’t help but be excited all at the same time. She did however remember to pull out her cellphone and send Pasha a text while they were on the ride to where ever it was they were going to be camping at. She wanted to let her brother know that she was going camping, and for him to keep in mind to let her know when he’d be available to meet Landon.
That second part of the text, that made her pause to think for a moment, the fact that things were moving into the direction of possibly turning serious between the two of them, and the prospect of him meeting Pasha. Now they were at the area that they would be spending the night together, and she stole glances of Landon putting the tent together while she made herself busy by gathering up some sticks and such in case they made a fire or something. Just really wanting to be helpful in some kind of sense. “Nope, never been. At least not that I remember.” she commented, with a little laugh, looking over at Landon while trying to figure out where to put the sticks she was holding.
"Guess that means that your brother isn't much of the camping sort?" he asked conversationally. "I suppose that means I shouldn't invite him out camping whenever we finally meet, huh?" he teased, sending her a little grin as he situated the last pole in the tent and stood back to admire his handiwork. "You're in for a treat then. Camping is fun. It's quiet and peaceful and there's just somethin' about fallin' asleep under the stars that you just can't get in a house or in the middle of the city." Landon told her. "And it's beautiful out tonight so that's all the better." he grinned. He hoped that she enjoyed camping as much as he did. "Want me to teach you how to start a fire?" he asked her.
“Not that I know of really. I don’t think camping has ever been brought up in the past with Pasha.” she spoke honestly, though she raised a brow at his teasing. That would either be really amusing the two of them camping, or it would turn out really badly. She finally figured out a place to put the sticks and brushed her hands on her jeans. “Falling asleep under the stars? So then where does the tent come into play?” she asked, teasing just a bit, but at least she was having fun so far. Hopefully the weather stayed decent and they didn’t get stormed on or anything. “Pretty easy with a lighter or matches. Are you going to go all boy scout on me, Landon?” she joked, though she nodded at his question.
"Well the tent has little flaps that open up so you can see the stars." he told her, moving to the tent to show her said flaps. "They've got screen on them to keep out mosquitoes and such though." he went on as he closed the flap once more. "I could do either." he told her. "Depends on if you wanna learn the easy way or the flint rock way."
She watched him as he pointed out the fact that even in the tent they could technically sleep under the stars. Which made her smile, and shake her head with a bit of a laugh. “Alright, so I was wrong then.” she moved closer to him though, “I was kidding with the whole boy scout thing, I didn’t mean that you have to do whatever a flint rock way is.” she spoke with a laugh, even if she was really starting to feel a bit out of her element. “But, either way, how can I help?”
"Well you can do it with a couple of rocks and just rub them together til it sparks. Or you can do it with some sticks, again til it sparks. I'm a fan of matches and kindling." he grinned. It was so much easier to just strike a match than to worry about hoping the sticks or rocks would throw off a spark. "I could use some kindling if you wanna grab some paper or some loose pine needles." he told her as he went about setting some rocks into a circular structure to keep the fire from spreading.
She blinked a couple of times when he went on telling her about rubbing rocks and sticks. That sounded like a lot of work. “I can see why.” she spoke before she started glancing around for some kind of kindling. Though, it wasn’t hard considering they were in the woods, and finding some pine needles really wasn’t all that hard. Veronika wasn’t sure on how much would be needed so she got herself two little handfuls and walked back over to Landon as he was making a circle with some rocks. “Do you go camping often?” she asked him.
"Whenever I can." he told her. "I like to get away, get back to the basics." he admitted. "Course I feel like I'm having a lot more fun with you than I do alone." he admitted. The rock circle finished, he collected a range of sticks from just about an inch in diameter to larger pieces and set them to the side of the fire pit. Arranging them the way he wanted, he took some of her kindling she'd collected and tucked it in between and around the branches before reaching into his pocket for a lighter. A handful of needles in one hand and the lighter in the other, he lit the pine needles and then placed them in the fire pit. A little poking and prodding and they had a decent one going. "See, easy."
For some reason she could picture Landon out here by himself and not really minding it at all. “Is that so?” she asked in return to him saying she made it feel more fun. And here she hadn’t really done much. But then again, she was having fun too, now that she wasn’t focusing on being nervous. She did however laugh when he pointed out how easy it was to start the fire. “I think you make it look easier than it is.” she mused, of course flirting with him just a little bit.
He smiled at her. "It most certainly is so." he told the girl. "I think that the scenery really has a run for it's money on pretty with you out here. You're putting the flowers and trees to shame." he smiled as he moved towards her and slipped his arms around her waist from behind. "Thank you for taking me up on my offer." he murmured before pressing a kiss to her cheek. "I'm really glad you're here with me."
She couldn’t help but laugh a little because of his words, knowing that she didn’t put any of this to any real shame, but it made her feel a little more special. “And you, Landon, are always the charmer.” she teased, though it wasn’t the first time she’d told him that. And it probably wouldn’t be the last. The smile on her lips only grew a little more and she leaned back against him when his arms went around her from behind. “I should be the one thanking you, for offering to bring me out here in the first place. Not the other way around.” she said to him. “When you come out here, what all do you do?” she was curious mainly because she couldn’t just see him sitting around doing nothing all by himself.
"Sometimes I just listen to my radio or I cook and eat or read a book." he shrugged. "It's nice just being out here in the quiet. Helps me think." he explained. "There's a little lake not far from here where I can go swimming. But like I said it's more fun having someone to have a conversation with than it is just being alone out here."
“That does sound rather nice though, just getting away from everything and being able to relax.” she murmured as she turned her head to where she could look up at him. “But I’m glad that I make it all the more fun.” she said with another one of her smiles. Though the smile wavered for a moment, “You think it’ll be alright though, considering my sleeping habits?” she had to ask, the last thing she needed was to get too stressed, and then end up lost in the woods.
"You'll be just fine." he promised her as he gave her a little squeeze. "I'm sure that I'll notice if you start moving around to get up and unzipping the tent and stuff." he promised her. He didn't want her to worry too much, though he knew that a little worry was just going to happen.
She nodded, trying to not think on it too much. It was one thing to open doors, a completely different thing to unzip tents, right? “Well, if I start talking and not making any sense, then that’s a decent sign that I might try to leave the tent.” she told him, wanting him to know some of the signs. Granted she doubted she talked every time, but then again, she didn’t know. Then she laughed softly, “No holding anything I say against me.”
"I won't." he promised her. "I'll keep an eye on you. I won't let anything happen to you." And Landon meant that. It was definitely a promise he planned on keeping. He cared for Veronika and he wasn't about to let her run off into the woods never to be seen again.
“I know you wont.” she found herself saying, and to her surprise she meant it. Which just made the smile on her lips grow a little more, even if a pink hue entered her cheeks. She watched the fire he had made for a few moments before she turned to face him. “Now if you tell me you brought marshmallows then you’ll officially be my favorite person.” she mused before glancing up to him again.
"Of course I did. Marshmallows and hotdogs of course. Can't have a camping trip without either." he smiled, stealing a little kiss from her cheek before moving to collect both the ziploc bag with hotdogs and the bag full of marshmallows. Reaching into his truck, he rummaged around for the handy little marshmallow turners he'd bought a while back. Sure sticks would work just fine but these were so much more sanitary.
“Is it sad I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a hotdog?” she asked with a bit of a laugh, moving to follow him as he got out the food. But she was looking forward to the marshmallows considering she’d never done the whole roasting them over a fire or anything. “So if these are camping staples, anything else I should know about?” she asked, genuinely curious.
He chuckled a little at that as he slipped a marshmallow on one of the stakes and handed it over to her. "Well i guess you should know that campfire songs are a must. Course those can be just about any song really. I'm sure I might know it and can probably figure out the chords close enough to play it." he said. "I brought the guitar so you'll have to warm up those vocal chords." he smiled, slipping a hotdog onto his stake and moving to settle on one of the folded chairs by the fire.
Taking the stake with the marshmallow, she moved to go with him to the folded chairs. Though her eyes went a little wide and she shook her head. “You don’t want me singing, really. I sound like a wounded cat or something.” she laughed, “I’m tone deaf, so I’ll just listen to you if you want to do the whole campfire song thing.” She might as well save his ears. But once she was seated next to him, she hesitantly put her marshmallow over the fire.
"I'm sure you're a lot better singer than you give yourself credit for." he told her with a little grin as he let his own stake move over the fire. "A lot of people don't give themselves enough credit as far as singin' goes."
“I’m sure that I’m not.” she spoke shaking her head a little. She wasn’t trying to put herself down or anything, it was just the truth, at least to her. She pulled her marshmallow up from the fire, now having to blow on it cause it had caught fire itself. At least she didn’t wave the stick in the air? And she was figuring that there would be no way to eat this without her fingers or her lips turning into a marshmallow gooey mess.
He watched her and that flaming marshmallow and couldn't help but chuckle. "They always taste the best when they're a little scorched." he told her once she'd put the little flame out. "Give it a second or two to cool because lava that sticks isn't always the best going down." he teased.
“I think they burn a bit too easy.” she commented with a laugh before she decided to use her fingers to try and slide it off of the stake thing it was attached to. Yup, she was definitely going to be a sticky mess. There was no stopping that. Though after she took a bite of the marshmallow, she did make a little ‘mmm’ sound. Waiting until her mouth was clear before talking, “Okay so mini marshmallows in hot chocolate just doesn’t compare.”
"Delicious aren't they?" he said with a smile as he turned the stake over the open flame. "Nothing like a fire roasted marshmallow." he told her with a glance in her direction. Funny how she could even make eating look gorgeous.
And here she thought she was making a complete mess out of herself, certainly not gorgeous, but as she wasn’t a mind reader, she didn’t know that he was thinking that of her. She smiled, while trying to wipe some marshmallow goo from the corner of her mouth, glancing over to him. “They are. Though I probably shouldn’t eat many, I’ll get all hyped up on sugar and there would be no sleeping at all.” she said with a little bit of a laugh.
He chuckled a little and reached over to wipe a bit of marshmallow off her lips that she'd missed. "I don't think I'd mind an energetic version of you." he smiled. "And you say staying up all night like it's a bad thing." he teased. He certainly thought that staying up with her all evening would be just lovely.
She ended up blushing a little bit at his words. For some reason her mind wandering into places that it probably shouldn’t have. But hey, they both were adults, and already going to be sharing a tent. But not like her thoughts helped to keep the blush away at all. “I’m not meaning it was a bad thing, just there is probably only so many of those campfire songs to keep ourselves amused?”
Landon grinned at her and couldn't help but let his eyes wander over her cheeks and down to her lips. "Well I'm sure we could come up with other things to keep us amused." he pointed out. He hoped that kissing would be one of those such things.
Veronika was oblivious to him looking at her lips, as she was trying to figure out other things that they could do to keep themselves amused. “I’d say we could go for a swim in that lake you mentioned, but it’s probably too chilly out, and I didn’t bring anything to swim in.” she spoke with a shrug, then trying to finish off her marshmallow.
"Unless you're up for skinny dipping." he teased, giving her a wink to let her know he was joking. Maybe he just wanted to see her flush again because it did look pretty on her cheeks. "Or we could tell ghost stories or just talk. I'm a fan of pretty much all of these options."
She did end up blushing again at the idea of skinny dipping, but she smiled all the same. “That could be an idea, that is if you wouldn’t be against looking the other way while I got in the water.” she offered, though she knew that once they would get in the water then there wouldn’t really be room for modesty. “But ghost stories sounds like an interesting option as well.”
"If you really wanted to go skinny dipping, I would of course be a gentleman and look away." he told her with a smile, though this time he was the one flushing a little. "Ghost stories I'm sure can happen right before bed. If I scare you enough, maybe you'll snuggle in close to me and we won't have to worry about you sleepwalking." he teased.
When she glanced at him and saw the blush to his own cheeks, she couldn’t help bit laugh a little bit. The look suited him, or at least she thought it did. And the fact that she was actually toying with the idea of actually skinny dipping surprised her. Just because she wondered a little on how he would react if she agreed to it. Or how she would react when it came to the actual time to undress. “Hm. Then maybe we should do the skinny dipping, and then the ghost stories, as I wouldn’t mind snuggling with you when it came to actually sleeping.” she admitted, watching him out the corner of her eye to see how he might take her words.
He flushed again, though he nodded a little. "Well hopefully you won't tell your brother that I talked you into skinny dipping." he teased. "Wouldn't want him to think I'm just lookin' for a quick bit of rollin' in the hay because I actually like you and that's not what I'm goin' for." he assured the girl. He wanted Veronika for so much more than just the physical. "But I could definitely go for a little cuddlin'." he added.
She laughed, more amused now. “What he doesn’t know wont hurt him.” she shrugged, “Though I think I’m the one talking you into it, and not the other way around.” she pointed out, her cheeks flushing up a little more at the fact that he wasn’t thinking of her as just a ‘roll in the hay’. She was really starting to like the way he talked, and how different he sounded than what she was used to. Drawing in a breath, and being a little bolder than she’d normally give herself credit for she got up and held out a hand to him. “How about you show me this lake and we’ll decide what we do when we get there?”
"Alright." he told her, standing up from his seat and setting his hotdog aside. There were more interesting matters to attend to at current and food could certainly wait. The fire would be just fine til they got back, he was sure. He led her through the trees and out to the little lake not far from where they had set up camp. Once there, he glanced back at the girl. It was dark out, but there was enough light from the moon and from the fire at their campsite that they could see each other plenty clearly.
She followed Landon, trying to keep her footing while she walked. It amused her that she probably could walk this with no problem when she was sleeping, but she worried now about tripping and falling. Especially since it was a bit dark out. She looked out at the dark water when they got to the lake, “This must be really pretty in the daylight.” she commented softly, moving closer to him to wrap her arms around his waist. She was finding that her boldness in the idea of the skinny dipping was starting to fade, and instead she leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “You get to pick, swimming or no?”
He nodded. "It's gorgeous." he agreed. "Daylight or night time." Of course his eyes were on here and she was pretty gorgeous as well so it was hard to tell which he was describing, her or the water. When she slipped her arms around him, he let his own slide around her and shrugged a little at her question. "You shouldn't leave me to decide." he told her with a chuckle. "I'm awful at making decisions and if it's left up to me, I might just kiss you all night."
Veronika was oblivious to yet another thing, the fact that he could have been talking about her. She instead glanced to the water again, a smile playing on her lips because she just assumed he was talking about that. “Nope, you’re gonna have to decide. And whose to say that isn’t an option either which way?” she teased glancing back up to him.
He grinned at her words and glanced out at the water, biting his bottom lip and shrugging. "Sure, why not." he told her. "Though you can probably just get down to your underclothes if that's more comfortable for you. I'm sure I've got an extra shirt you could borrow if you needed something to sleep in." he offered. And that meant he would just strip to his boxers. It was close enough to a bathing suit.
She smiled at the idea of just getting down to underclothes, as then at least they’d both be somewhat covered. Though she idly wondered if they would stay that way, the thought causing another deep blush to rise in her cheeks. “I think I like that idea a bit better.” Plus, she really liked the idea of maybe sleeping in an extra of one of his shirts. She then pulled back from him a little and using a finger gestured for him to turn around.
He grinned at her when she used her finger to tell him to turn around. So he did just that and spun around to give her the privacy she needed. While she was undressing, he went about doing the same. Pulling his shirt up and over his head, he set it aside on the grassy edge of the lake and then took off his boots and socks and belt. Next came his jeans, which he slipped off and put with the rest of his clothes. "Done?" he questioned her.
When he turned, she did to, to give him some of the privacy he was giving her. Wiggling out of her own clothes, and putting them in a neat little pile on the grass. The coolness to the air already sending goosebumps on her skin. She had planned on getting in the water before he would have a chance to turn around, but for some reason deciding against it at the last moment. “Mhm, done.” she spoke soft, knowing that she basically just gave him permission to turn back around, and even though her back was to him and she was looking out at the water, she was reasoning with herself that she had probably worn bathing suits that covered less.
He let out a little breath and turned to see her pretty little backside in nothing but a pair of panties. She was going to be the death of him, of that he was certain. He flushed a little as he headed towards the lake. "So... ready to go in?" he asked.
She nodded, and started heading toward the lake as well, only now taking the time to peek over at him. Exhaling a slow breath, as really he looked damn good in just a pair of boxers. “Yes, but if we start to freeze, we’ll have to warm each other up.” she attempted to tease before she put her feet into the water and sucked in a sharp breath. “Right, there wouldn’t happen to be a place to just … jump in at?” Cause walking into the water? Yea, she’d chicken out, it wasn’t exactly the warmest water ever.
That only made him flush more. Warming each other up? Yeah, definitely a reason to blush. He wouldn't mind it and hell, hoped that it would be something that actually happened. "There is." he told her. "Not too far there's a rock that goes out over the lake a little, enough that it's deep enough to just plunge into." he explained, reaching out to take her hand so he could lead her to said rock.
It was a little too dark for her to see him flush up, since they weren’t by the light of the fire anymore. She wouldn’t have minded the warming each other up though, especially since she had only felt the water with her feet and it seemed like it could be a likely possibility. She smiled though, trying not to be nervous about him seeing her in her underwear while they walked after him having taken her hand. “You must come out here a bit,” she laughed, “You know the area pretty well.” Granted he had already said earlier that he went camping when he could. Okay, now she was just pointing out the obvious.
"I do." he told her with a nod, letting his fingers twine with hers as they stepped out on the rock that draped naturally over the lake. "It pays to know your surroundings and at least you'll feel safe knowing that I know my way around here." he added. He hoped that she did indeed feel safe with him around. "So, do you wanna jump in first or shall I?"
She smiled a little more, feeling the rock under her feet now. “That’s true, it would be horrible if we both didn’t know where we were at, and at night. It’d be a perfect setting for one of those slasher flicks.” she shook her head, laughing a bit until she was posed with the question on who jumps first. She bit down on her lower lip, trying to weigh the options. If she did, at least she would be in the water, if he jumped first then she’d have something to cling to if it was in fact too cold. “Uhm, I guess I will?” she questioned before taking in a breath, leaning up to press a kiss to his cheek, and letting his hand go right before she jumped in the water.
It would definitely be the perfect setting for a slasher flick. He preferred not to be eaten or killed out in the woods though and was thankful he at least had his gun behind the seat of his truck. Not that he'd let her in on that little fact unless he needed to. No need to scare the girl. Once she'd surfaced, Landon gave himself a running start and hopped in the water after her. It was freezing, that was for sure, but damn if it wasn't refreshing.
If she did know about the gun, yea, that would have probably scared her a bit. Not because of Landon having a gun, just because of there being a gun in the first place. But the water, that was what was on her mind at the moment. The fact that it was freezing and she was the type of girl that would usually have the water in her bath or shower as hot as she could possibly stand it. As much as she was shivering, she couldn’t help but laugh at his running jump. When he surfaced she swam a little closer to him. “S-show off.”
She was obviously cold so he moved a bit closer to her, using one arm to keep himself afloat and the other to wrap around her. "Cold?" he asked her, though that was pretty obvious in the way she was shivering.
She nodded a little, though she was smiling despite the shivering. “Just gotta get used to it.” she commented, though was welcoming of his arm wrapping around her. “You’re not?” she asked him, she’d be a little surprised if he wasn’t. But at least she was trying to use her legs to keep herself floating, which could help to warm her up quicker.
"I am." he admitted. "Gotta get used to it too." It was definitely a little cold and might take a few minutes. He was sort of thankful he wasn't naked because the cold certainly wasn't helping some of his body. "Guess I'll get that cuddlin' tonight after all?"
She liked the fact that he was honest with her, even over the things that she found most of the guys in her past would have been wanting to be the ‘tough guy’ about. She did nod however, “I think that is a very definite possibility.” she confirmed, really liking the idea of being able to cuddle with him. “But first...” she started but trailed off on purpose before she used one hand to splash some water at him.
He was surprised by the little splash. "Oh, so we wanna play that way, huh?" he teased as he splashed her back in return. Yes, she was quickly finding her way further and further into his heart.
She laughed even more, splashing at him again, turning herself so that way maybe he couldn’t splash back and her get a face full of water. Bringing a hand up and trying to wipe some of the water from her face as well as push some of her hair away. “You’re not supposed to splash back.” she spoke, though obviously just playing around. But then she leaned back so she could dip her head in the water, and cause her hair to be slicked back, away from her face for now anyway.
"Oh so I'm supposed to not fire back when I'm attacked with ice cold water?" he teased. But he didn't splash her again and instead moved towards her once she'd lifted her head up from the water. Slipping his arms around her middle, he led her to where their feet could touch the lake bed. "You look beautiful." he told her.
“Exactly.” she teased right back, liking that she could just relax and be playful around him. A giggle bubbled out of her when she felt his arms around her middle, having not been paying attention to where he was for a moment. When she could actually stand on the bottom of the lake, she squished her toes into the lake bed, before looking up at him when he spoke. “Oh? And you have night vision now to tell that?” she teased, feeling the blush in her cheeks. But at least it was making her warmer, the blushing.
"The moon is enough light for me to notice that." he told her with a little smile as he moved to be in front of her. His hands slid over her cheeks and he leaned in to steal a little kiss from her. "But it's true, even if I couldn't see you, I'd know that."
“Is it?” she asked, even though she could see him in the moonlight. Not as well as in the light of the fire, but it wasn’t totally dark out. Her eyes flickered up toward the sky for a moment before falling back down to look at him with a smile on her lips. Then a little noise of surprise when he kissed her. She hadn’t been expecting it, and then she found that it ended entirely way too quickly. “Mm, if you say so, but then again if you keep up those little kisses, I’m liable to agree with anything.” she teased, though there was some truth to that.
He grinned a little at that surprised little noise and the look on her face. It was definitely one of his favorites. Catching her a little off guard with a kiss certainly brightened his day. "Guess that's your way of telling me I'm a good kisser?" he questioned, his smile spreading a little further.
If she was asked, Veronika wouldn’t have been able to explain on exactly why her cheeks flushed up again at his question. Or the fact that she smiled while biting on her bottom lip for a moment. Being around Landon usually caused the opposite, the lack of thinking and just relying on how it felt to be around him. “Hm, you see, I’m not sure. I might need a little more proof to figure it out.” she tempted.
He grinned at her again and leaned in a little. "Well if it's proof that you want, you're more than welcome to it." he murmured before stealing another little kiss from her lips.
At least this time she was expecting it and could kiss back all proper like instead of seeming all surprised. When the kiss ended though, she smiled softly and bit down on her lower lip for a moment. “Yes, I do believe I was trying to say you’re a wonderful kisser.” she murmured.
That got her one more smile as he brushed his fingers over her cheek. "Well you're a pretty amazing kisser yourself, you know." he murmured. "And you're probably freezing yourself out here. Wanna head back?" he questioned. The last thing he wanted was to get her sick and it to be his fault.
When he brushed his fingers on her cheek, she turned her head to put a small kiss to the palm of his hand. “I know. I have intoxicating kisses.” she teased, just trying to be funny. Though when he mentioned the cold, she found that she had forgotten that she really was, mainly because the playing around and kissing him pushed the slight cold discomfort out of her mind. “Alright, but on one condition.” she spoke, looking at him. “You let me borrow a shirt to wear and cuddle with me by the fire to warm up?”
"You do." he agreed with her. She might have been teasing, but she most certainly did have intoxicating kisses. When she made her condition, his lips curled into a grin. "I think I could handle that condition." he told her. Hell, he thought that he'd be coming out on top with those conditions. "Come on, lets get you out of the cold."
“You know when someone teases, you’re not really supposed to agree?” she mused before taking his hand in hers, lacing their fingers together. At least this way she would attempt to not get lost. “Alright, lead the way.” she spoke softly, ready to follow him back to the campsite.
"I can't help it if your teasing was true." he pointed out with a little smirk. Leading her out of the water, he stopped only to collect his things and let her collect hers. Reaching the campsite once more, they set their things in the truck and he went about finding a couple of towels. He was always prepared for random dips in the lake and once they'd dried off, he grabbed her one of his old shirts to put on. "It'll probably swallow you up, but it's warm." he told her before rummaging through for a dry pair of boxers and some night pants for himself to wear. "I'm just gonna go behind the truck and get changed." he told her before doing just that.
She was more cold now that they were out of the water than she had been in the water near the end of their swim. And even though she didn’t know how to even pack for a camping trip, at least she was smart enough to bring some clothes for tomorrow, which included dry undergarments. So after drying off, and being given the shirt of his to wear, she smiled to him before he disappeared behind the truck. “Well, I’ll just change over here then.” she spoke, pointing out the obvious again, but was already getting out of the now damp remnants of her clothing, and putting on a dry pair of panties and pulling Landon’s shirt over her head. It did rather swallow her up, but so far it would prove to be rather comfortable. “Did you bring anything to drink?” she then asked.
"I did." he said as he pulled on the pajama pants over his now dry pair of boxers. Setting out his wet clothes on the hood of the trunk to dry, he moved to the cooler to grab a couple of drinks. "You want a soda or water?" he asked her. "And you can just put your wet clothes by mine. They'll be dry by morning." he assured her.
“Uhm, a soda is fine.” she spoke, moving to put her wet clothing on the hood of the truck next to his, so that way they could dry out like he said they would. After she was done with that, she moved over to near the fire, not even bothering with the chairs and sitting on the ground instead.
He grabbed a soda for Veronika and one for himself before moving to sit beside her. He hadn't bothered with a shirt, mostly because he tended to sleep naked. She should be pleased that he'd put on pants. Handing over her drink, he gave her a little smile and unscrewed the cap of his drink. Taking a sip, he capped it again and set it aside. "I think you wear that shirt a lot better than I do."
She glanced up when he moved close, and then sat beside her. Taking the drink when he offered it to her, undoing the cap and taking a sip. The carbonation of the drink causing her nose to scrunch up slightly. Thankfully she finished drinking before he spoke, because it caused her to giggle some. “Oh? How do you figure that?” she asked before putting the drink to the side and leaning over so she could rest her head against him.
"It just looks better on you than it ever did on me." he grinned. And it showed off her legs and he was quite approving of those. When she leaned against him, he slipped his arm around her and let out a little breath. He could definitely get used to this. He liked the feel of her against him.
“Hm, I doubt that. I like the way your clothes look on you.” she smiled looking up at him from her little resting spot. “Oorr lack thereof.” she added on, because him being shirtless? Yea that was a bit of added eye-candy. She was admitting it.
He flushed a little at her words. "You're gonna make my ego huge if you keep talkin' like that." he warned her, though he doubted his ego would become too uncontrollable. "Glad that you think that way though." At least he didn't have to worry that she found him unattractive.
She turned to him a little, though not enough to where she couldn’t be cuddled against him. “Oh really? But it isn’t fair if you’re the only one being a charmer.” she spoke, pouting just a little bit, but unable to keep from laughing a little bit more. “Mm, I do think that way. But here’s another question, how can you still be so wonderfully warm after that freezing water?” she asked as she pressed a little closer to him.
He chuckled a little at her words. "Guess I'm just hotblooded." he teased as he pulled her closer still to him. "And because you need to be warmed up." he added, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. "We could go in the tent if you're getting too cold." he told her.
She shook her head a little, “I like it right here, with you, by the fire.” she admitted, not wanting to go into the tent just yet. Because she was associating the tent in her head with sleeping. She looked up at him, leaning up a little to press a gentle kiss to his lips. “Plus, you’re warming me up just fine.” she murmured against his lips.
"I think those kisses are warming me up just fine." he murmured before stealing one more from her mouth. Yes, they were definitely warming him up. He was having a hard time even being able to focus on anything else when she was kissing him.
She would have responded, or at least more than the little ‘Mhm’ that came from her, but he was kissing her again. And really, she did like the kissing. And it certainly helped to warm her up even further. “Keep the kisses up and we might have to go freeze in the lake again.” she murmured into the kiss. Though it was meant as a tease, it also was a slight admittance at what being around him, and the kisses and to what sort of reactions they could get out of her.
Hearing those words certainly had his face heating up, flush sliding over his cheeks. "Oh really?" he murmured, teasing her a little with a smile slipping across his lips. "I'm finding it pretty difficult to not kiss you..." he admitted, biting his lower lip. "I still say you've bewitched me."
She nodded after he spoke the ‘oh really’. “Mhm, really.” she spoke before stealing another little kiss, especially since he was smiling. How could she not? Oh then he had to go and bite his lower lip? It made it look like he was both sexy and vulnerable at the same time. She did however giggle a little. “Landon, if I bewitched you literally, then you wouldn’t be thinking you’re bewitched.” Plus, she rarely used her magics. So instead she playfully nipped at his lower lip. “But .. If you think of something better to do, we could always stop the kissing.”
"Point taken." he said with a little grin. As for stopping the kissing. "I don't think I can think of anything better to do." At least not this soon in a relationship, that was for sure. He could think of tons of things to do that were just as fun as kissing, but yeah, it was early on. And he respected Veronika more than that. "I'm quite content to keep up the kissing." he murmured, liking the way she nipped at his lip.
“Me too.” she murmured against his lips, stealing another little kiss from them before pulling back enough to look him in the eyes. “I’m glad you brought me out here camping, even if we could get eaten by bears or something.” she teased with a bit of a smile on her lips.
"I wouldn't let you get eaten." he promised her, a little grin sliding over his lips. "But I'm glad you decided to come with me. It's nice to just get away for a little while. Makes everything fade away really." he said, letting out a little sigh. "Everyone deserves a break every once in a while.”
“Oh? You could stop a bear then?” she teased with a little bit of a laugh, enjoying the fact that he was right, it was nice to just get away from everything. Even if they would have to go back to reality tomorrow, this was nice. “Maybe we’ll have to do this again. That is if you don’t get tired of me.” she joked, not really thinking he would, but that could have just been the hope that he wouldn’t talking.
"I'm sure I could figure out a way to stop a bear if I really had to." Landon told her with a shrug. Again he didn't bother mentioning the gun he had in his truck. Some things were better left unsaid. "We'll definitely have to do this again." he murmured. "And I won't get tired of you." he assured her. "If anything, it'll be you getting tired of me."
Veronika was amused, but hoping that they wouldn’t have to figure out if he really could stop a bear. But the thought didn’t last too long, as it was nice being next to him right by the fire. Which was making her feel all warm now, instead of the chill to the bone that the water had given. “I wont get tired of you.” she spoke, and oddly enough with a certainty that she didn’t quite know was there.
"Good." he murmured. "Because I plan on keeping you around a long time, whether you're tired of me or not." he teased, giving her a little wink.
She smiled to him, not being able to help it. She then rested against him again, her head right at his shoulder. “I’d be incredibly sad if you didn’t plan on keeping me around for a while.” she whispered, meaning for it to be a tease, but it coming out more like an admittance.
"Well we can't have that." he murmured. Landon had no intentions of giving up on Veronika. If anyone pulled the plug on whatever this was that they had together, it would have to be here because he certainly wasn't planning on giving her up. Not if he could help it.
