Xander was flushing the moment that Charlie's words escaped her lips against his own. The fact that her dad heard it - of course he heard it - only made the flush deepen and he tried not to look like he was about to be mauled. He wasn't in any hurry to leave, even with the bit of nervousness in him that still held tight to his insides. He wasn't used to being accepted into a family like he was here. Jason had been more than kind to him and now was letting him stay there with them and he felt grateful, indebted. He fully intended to fork over his paycheck for his own living expenses but still hadn't figured out a way to do so without Jason telling him not to worry about it.
Right now, curled up on the sofa with his girlfriend and her baby sister was right where he wanted to be. "She's alright," he assured Charlie. "No breaking."
