Wake Up, Sleepyhead.
Who: Colin and Cleo
What: Reuniting after the full moon
When: 10.13.11 - Thursday Morning
Where: Cleo and Colin's house
Warnings: None
Cleo had Cathair drop her off pretty much as soon as the moon had set. She'd taken only enough time to get dressed before urging him to bring her home. Once inside, she dropped her bag at the foot of the basement stairs and went to the cage. Colin was still asleep. His sweats were in tatters, but he was in the relatively the same position he'd been in when she'd left him. Thank god. That meant the sedative had worked and while he'd still shifted, which had been expected, he wasn't battered and bruised like he likely was each full moon prior. She breathed a little sigh of relief and went to the locks, unlatching them and unwinding the chains. Slipping into the cage, she knelt down beside Colin. Gently brushing his hair away from his face she leaned in enough to press her lips to his forehead. For the first time since before she'd left the previous night, she finally felt less tense. "Colin," she murmured softly. "Wake up, sleepyhead."
Cathair had probably gone overboard with the potion, because Colin didn't even start stirring until Cleo started talking to him. God, what the hell had he given him? Colin groaned a little bit in his sleep, grabbing Cleo around the waist as if she'd just tried to wake him up normally too early. "Ten more minutes," he mumbled sleepily, nuzzling her cheek. It had to be way too fucking early, as tired as he still was.
She let him grab her and pull him in against him. He was warm and god she wanted him to hold her, even if that meant being in the cage with him until he was ready to get up. Again she brushed her fingers through his hair, glad that he had at least slept soundly enough to not want to get up. "Okay," she whispered. "Ten more minutes."
Colin wasn't really aware he was in the cage still yet. His brain was fuzzy as hell and all he knew was that Cleo was there and warm and cuddly and it was too damned early to get up by how tired he was. Why she was dressed while they were in bed was a mystery his brain was kind of picking at, but he ignored it. Especially when she didn't argue and was stroking his hair and snuggling him. That was nice.
Cleo didn't really have the heart to tell him that it was the morning after the full moon yet. She'd let him remain oblivious for a little while longer. She pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, then the tip of his nose before finally kissing his mouth and curling in as tightly as she could manage. Apparently her own clinginess hadn't worn off yet. Spending the night away from him certainly wasn't something she wanted to do more often than she had to.
Because that would be bad news? Colin was too drugged up to have been upset if she had any bad news for him even. He let out a soft groan as she kissed him, rolling onto his back. That's when the cold floor gave him a rude awakening. Chills shot up his back and he let out a soft growl of displeasure. Why the fuck was he on the floor? "Goddamn," he cursed, realizing his limbs were all still asleep too much to move. "Why am I on the floor?"
Yeah, the potion was certainly still in full effect. Perhaps a little less would work better the next full moon. Cleo smiled a little and ran her fingers over his cheek. "Because you're in your cage still," she told him. "You should get up and come to bed," she murmured. Likely that'd be another moment or two with the grogginess she could still hear in his voice.
Still in the cage? Colin looked confused, then remembered finally. The full moon. Yeah, they'd talked him into letting Cath put him under. It must be morning. It better be morning, or she- oh wait, if it wasn't morning, Cleo would still be a cat. "It's morning already?" he mumbled, leaning up on one elbow and rubbing his face with his other hand. "Jesus, what did he give me?"
Cleo let herself roll onto her back, looking up at him with a little smile. "Mhm," she told him. "It's morning. Very early morning, but morning. I wanted to see you so I made Cathair drop me off as soon as I could shift and change clothes," she admitted. As for what Cathair had given him, she shrugged. "Something strong, apparently. You were so out that you were still in the same spot I left you in last night." But as far as she was concerned, that was a good thing. He'd not hurt himself. "Other than groggy, how are you feeling?" she questioned.
That explained it. It was probably barely after sunrise from what Cleo was describing. Which was about the time Colin usually got up anyway. "No fucking kidding," he muttered, laying back. "I'll let you know when I feel anything but groggy."
Getting up enough to be in a sitting position, Cleo nodded a bit. "How about you get up the ability to get in bed and I'll go make something for breakfast?" she offered. No doubt he was probably all but starving since he hadn't eaten after lunchtime the day before. "What do you want?"
He wasn't awake enough to be hungry. She'd have to give him a bit for that. "I want to go back to bed until my body doesn't feel like lead," he told her, grabbing the bars to help haul himself sitting up. He was surprised at the lack of aches and pains. Well beyond what came with sleeping on the floor for like twelve hours straight. "I should not be this fucking tired still, should I?" he muttered softly.
Cleo watched him move to sit up, her eyes wandering over him, slightly concerned with his still groggy movements. "Maybe he just gave you too much sleeping potion?" she told him. "I could call and find out if this is normal." She wasn't a witch so she wasn't sure if it would wear off on its own or not. Standing up, she moved closer to him. "Come on, lemme help you to bed at least. No reason for you to be sleeping on the cold floor. We should put a mattress in here since the potion works. At least you'll be comfortable."
"Cleo, I have been laying in the same spot for twelve hours," he reminded her. "Everything is asleep from not moving. If I am still like this after getting up and walking around, then we'll call him. Jesus." She worried way too much. He didn't like the idea of a mattress or anything else he could possibly shred or anything else when he was in crazy monster mode. "It won't kill me to sleep on the floor once a month. Just in case something goes wrong." He knew where she was going with this and the answer was still no. She was not staying in the house on the full moon. Ever. Period.
Hauling himself to his feet, he stretched out and cracked stuff and tried to get the blood flowing a little bit. Which seemed to be helping although he still felt a little groggy. "Okay, you're coming to bed with me. Because you probably didn't sleep at all." That sounded like a good plan to him, as Colin lurched out of the cage towards the bedroom.
She was allowed to worry, damn it. She gave him a look, but said nothing. Cleo knew that his stubborn ass wouldn't budge on anything and she didn't feel like arguing. He drove her crazy with that stubbornness, but she really couldn't blame him. She'd have been the way if the roles were reversed. She followed after him to the bedroom, not about to complain about going back to bed. That was just fine by her. He was right, she didn't sleep much, even with the warmth radiating off of Sadhbh.
Once in the bedroom, she got rid of her socks and shoes and the majority of her clothing save for her bra and underwear. Crawling into the bed, she snuggled in against the blankets and pillows and let out a content little sigh. "You're right," she admitted. "I didn't sleep much. I was worried about you, can you blame me?"
Not happening. Just in case the magic didn't work or something happened. He wasn't taking that chance. She could be mad at him forever about it, but this was one thing Colin wasn't budging on. Colin just shucked off the rest of his sweats, which had held up pretty good. They were still headed for the rag bag, but he hadn't woken up completely naked like usual.
Climbing into bed next to her, Colin dragged Cleo into his arms and against his chest. "No, I can't blame you," he told her. "But I can make you take a nap with me to make up for it. Maybe after that, the crazy sleeping potion or whatever will have worn off. Then we can have lunch or whatever time it is." He kissed her. "I love you."
"A nap sounds pretty good right about now," she murmured, returning the kiss and curling into him. "I love you too," she told him. "Don't let me sleep the entire day away," she warned him, smiling a little as she stole one more kiss.
"Take off the rest of your clothes," he suggested with a sleepy, dirty smirk. "Then I can guarantee I will not let you sleep any longer than I do." Yeah, wasn't happening now, but once the stupid sleeping potion wore off, he was probably going to be horny as hell.
She grinned a little at his words, especially coupled with that dirty little smirk. How was she supposed to argue with simple logic such as that? Pulling away from him briefly, she removed the rest of her clothes, tossing them off the side of the bed and curling back against Colin. "Sleep now," she murmured. "You can ravage me when you wake up. I give you full permission to do whatever it takes to wake me," she grinned.
Yeah, because he needed her permission. He'd have ended up doing it anyway. She knew how horny she made him. Especially all soft and warm and nice smelling. Colin wrapped Cleo back up in his arms and inhaled deeply. This had definitely been the best full moon. He didn't feel like crap, Cleo was fine and now they could snuggle and sleep and get on with their lives. "Thank you," he murmured, leaning down to kiss her. "For making me let Cath drug me and staying away and giving me permission to ravage you when we wake up. The full moons will be a lot easier now, I think."
Cleo smiled sleepily at him and kissed him once more. "Well I hope they stay easier," she told him. "I'm glad they're easier. That's all I wanted. Knowing you're alright will make being away from you less difficult the next time around." She was giving up arguing about staying in the house, even if she still wanted to fight for her right to do just that. "I don't like being away from you but I know it makes you feel more secure," she murmured, kissing him again. "So I won't argue anymore about it, okay? I understand your reasoning, even if I think you're being stubborn."
Colin groaned. This was settled, wasn't it? "Thank you," he said again. "I appreciate that you understand. Now shut up and go to sleep. So we don't spend the whole day in bed. Okay, well, spend the whole day sleeping." He kissed her again. "I love you. Even when you nag me about being stubborn."
She rolled her eyes at his groaning. And at his telling her to shut up. "Yeah, and I love you even when you're being a brat," she told him, sticking her tongue out at him. The need to sleep was overruling her ability to argue or tease so she curled in against him and closed her eyes. She'd much rather be sleeping than talking at the moment anyway.
She was lucky he was too tired to make her use her tongue if she was going to put it out there. Especially when she called him a brat. There was nothing to talk about anymore. Everything was settled and dealt with and he'd dread the full moons a whole lot less now. Pulling Cleo close against him, Colin let himself drift back to sleep.
