Seeking: Historical Femme Romance
I'd really like to do an historical femme romance, possibly with a supernatural twist. PSL, long-term and threading only. I know that the word "romance" can conjure up a lot of different images for people, so let me be a little more specific: the focus of the line will be the development of a romantic relationship between two women. I want plenty of meaty conflict (internal, interpersonal AND external) and subplots that enrich the romance. Sex will probably come up, I can fade to black or write it out but I'm not looking for pornographic smut for this line.
Historical Periods Ancient Sparta (mentor relationship or two married women), Tudor or Elizabethan England (noble/servant), Renaissance Europe (esp. involving a woman who lives as a man), Colonial America (the witch craze), Victorian America or England (romantic friendship, perhaps between two academics), Edwardian England (suffragettes), early 20th century Paris (Natalie Clifford Barney's salon), the Roaring Twenties (flappers, Harlem, gay Hollywood), WWII (military), 50's/60's America or England (butch/femme dynamic)
Supernatural Elements This line doesn't need to have supernatural elements, but it can. Depending on the era, I would be particularly interested in witchcraft, ghosts or werewolves. Gothic romance, Lovecraftian horror, or maybe a dark fairytale feel ala Guillermo Del Toro. I'm really not into the style of story told by Stephanie Meyers (I don't like her interpretation of the vampire or the kind of romantic relationships that she writes) or Laurell K. Hamilton (basically porn with a supernatural flavor, definitely not what I'm looking for with this line).
I'm going to have A LOT of free time on my hands March 6-9 and then I'll be going on vacation March 11-15, so I'd like to get the details worked out and the line on a roll by the 10th to keep us from losing interest while I'm out of town.
