Summary: Where in Chuck realizes that there is a god, Cas gets beat up, and we all endure one heck of a season finale. Not bad for only three hundred words, if I do say so myself.
1. Hell
“And as Lucifer rose out of his cage, hell rose with him.”
Chuck blinked as he stared at his screen, his eyesight blurring as he clicked the “save” button. He glanced briefly at the large stack of folders on his desk and winced. Ever since Dean had first asked for a copy of one of Chuck’s unpublished manuscripts, Chuck had begun to print everything he wrote, rather than simply save the documents to his ancient desktop, just in case the Winchester brothers felt the need to stop by again for a visit.
Chuck snorted at his private joke. Whom was he kidding? After what he just wrote? The Winchesters wouldn’t live another week. He would never see them again. Despite this, Chuck decided to print the manuscript, only to discover that he was completely out of ink.
Figures.
This was the last book that he would ever write, possibly the last book anyone would write, and he could not print it off because he forgot the ink. What sort of cruel twist of irony was this exactly? Was Zachariah telling the truth? Was there no God?
Chuck winced at his own thought. Looking down dejectedly at the last words glowing on his screen. The proof that there was no God was right there, in that cliff-hanger ending.

It wasn’t until later, while Castiel battled the Archangels in Chucks cluttered living room, that Chuck made the startling connection. As Castiel took a beating of a lifetime, Chuck crawled forward, towards his forgotten computer, and to the never-printed gospel. The vengeful archangels slowed their attacks to watch him as he stood on his knees, hitting the “delete” button and thus rendering their presence unnecessary.
Once the archangels light had dispersed, Chuck turned to the crumpled form of Castiel.
