A lightbulb goes off Who: Luke (narrative) Where: His house, his basement room What: Luke finally figures where the wind came from When: 24 September, afternoon Warnings: None.
Luke had no idea what this wind was coming from but it seemed to follow him no matter where he went, even indoors. He had no clue where it came from or why it never really hit him but things were pushed back like rolly chairs, papers, some books. That was how strong the wind was. During Warbler's practice, someone thought someone had left the AC on.
Things have been getting weird. The fire Luke heard about seemed strange. Then his sister went on and on at breakfast about the game the night before in which people were just acting overly weird then too. It was kind of overwhelming. Of course, that could have been his sisters in general. As Nina insisted she saw things that didn't make sense, Janet told Nina she wasn't being logical. After the two argued, Alex, who was hungover, yelled at the two of them to shut up. Luke slipped out to his mancave after that. He didn't want to agree with Nina that weird things were happening, because he hated to agree with her on anything.
Luke was feeling like he didn't want to live on this planet anymore so he did what he usually did when he felt that way. He created his own planet and civilization by playing Civilization V. He played as the French for the lulz. He also had his music playing as he played as well. And as usual, he sang along. By mid-day, some classmates invited him to the movies and Luke decided he would go in the evening.
Then, as he continued to play, Bryan Adams's classic, "Everything I do, I do it for you" came on, one of his guilty pleasure songs. Luke had to sing along and belt it like always. However, just as he got to the belting part and held out the long note, his laptop fell over. Luckily, at the time, he was holding his hand in front of his face like a microphone. He felt the power of the wind... coming from his own mouth.
As Bryan Adams crooned the rest of the love anthem classic, alone without Luke's version, a lightbulb went off over his head. Suddenly... everything made sense. That wind... was coming from his mouth. Was he seriously crazy? He decided to test it out. Taking a deep breath, noticing how some of the items in his room, like posters of bands, moving towards him. When he exhaled, it was with such strength, his lamp, several action figures he had on the shelves, books, and even his drum set fell over as if the winds of a hurricane came through. The lightbulb was right.
"Mwuh-ya, yi-gae??? WHAT THE FUCK!" Luke was so perplexed that he combined his two languages and grasped his dyed blond hair by the fist full. That logically made no sense of what just happened. He got up and began to pace back and forth as he tried to put together what happened. Before he could even comprehend what happened further, his mother came down the stairs with a load of laundry (the laundry room was the next room over).
His mother did not look happy with the mess and Luke knew she would not believe the truth so he had no choice but to lie. She shouldn't have bought the argument Luke was upset for losing the video game. Even so, it still launched a loving mother-son argument which turned into the punishment to clean his room and to straighten out the garage before he could even think of going out to the movies.
