Jaime sighed as she discarded the muffin but he didn't say anything. There was no point in fussing about it. Instead he focused on addressing the issue of their children.
"Jadyn and I weren't much older than Luka and Rory when we had to start relying on each other than our parents. I'm not saying that's the case with us but we never know what might happen, last night for example. They can never be too prepared. None of us can."
He tensed as she reacted to his answer but tried to keep his own anger under control. If he didn't he would only start yelling as well and they would get nowhere fast.
"Don't make it sound like I abandoned you and the kids to go to some frat party because it wasn't like that." His tone was stern and he kept his eyes leveled on hers.
"There is nowhere else I'd rather be than here with my family, but I couldn't sleep and lately Rory has been getting up late at night because of me. With Luka sick, I didn't want to possibly wake Rory who would have probably woken Luka which would have woken you. So I left, that's all it was."
