"I'm fine, Jaime." Rachel said, turning. She gave a tight smile as she held up her freshly toasted bagel, stepping towards him. "I think I'll keep it light, today. Thank you, though."
She placed her food on a plate, picking up her glass of pomegranate juice and walking past him and towards the dining room table. She sighed as she sat down, hating the negative tension between them. It felt like he was waiting for a bomb to go off. She was angry, yes, but she wanted things to go back to normal just as much he did. Something was clearly wrong, and all she wanted was to correct it.
"How were the twins this morning? Was Luka feeling better, or did he just refuse to stay home?" Their kids were practically joined at the him. It was strange to some people that they were so adamant that they stay close to each other at all times, but not to her and Jaime. Their bond had been palpable since the two had been born. "We can't keep indulging him that way. When they get to school, we won't be able to ensure that they stay together." Rachel said, taking a bite of her bagel, still not looking at her husband.
After a tense few minutes, though, she couldn't take it anymore. Neither one of them were fans of playing games, and there was only so much beating around the bush that she could do. placing her bagel back onto its plate, she crossed her hands in her lap and looked up at him.
