McKinley Assembly Who: All the power people When: Sunday March 4, 11am Where: McKinley gym What: There are answers. Not everyone is happy about it.
Sue Sylvester surveyed the students assembled in the McKinley High gymnasium. Pathetic, the lot of them. With few exceptions, the students gathered were scared and unsure of what was going on. For supposed future superheroes (or villains), they were a sad bunch of losers. What else could be expected from Lima, OH.
Sue Sylvester did not have superpowers of her own. Her only power was being Sue Sylvester, but it was more than enough to have reached the top of a super secret government agency. If it hadn't been for a few minor failures in the late 80's, she never would have landed the assignment in Lima. She'd been placed in the high school to monitor any interesting phenomena, but until September of 2011 the school had been more boring than listening to Will Schuester talk about his Glee Club.
So she'd done her duty, informed the agency she worked for that the worst had happened. Whoever thought of giving hormone fueled teenagers superpowers should be lobotomized, regardless of if it was hereditary or not. Sterilization back in the 50's would have taken care of their problems now, regardless of any sticky human rights issues. But what was done was done, and it was now up to Sue Sylvester to pick up the pieces.
A glance at the clock showed that it was time to begin, and Sue stood with her arms crossed at the back of the gym. Mr. Black (not his real name) nodded to Sue as he walked to the center of the room. His black suit and take-no-prisoners attitude made him a natural fit to lead this discussion. He looked out over the room of children, and they slowly fell silent.
"Thank you for coming. I realize this situation is less than ideal and I assure you that you will get the answers you want. But first, there are a few things to take care of. Would anyone who has been affected by the mind transference please head to the back of the gym. We're ready to restore you to your bodies, and thank you for your patience. Please follow Ms. Jones and her associates to a private area for the reversal."
Sue snorted, thinking that Mr. Black sounded as if he was apologizing for a flight delay not a freak occurrence that could have destroyed lives. It took less than fifteen minutes for the resident psychic, Ms. Jones (not her real name) to restore the children to their original bodies and send them back to the bleachers without even a moment to readjust. She whispered something to Mr. Black, who looked grim and gestured for several of the white-coated men to follow Ms. Jones out of the room.
Mr. Black waited until the last student was back in their seats, and then began again. "Now, I don't want to take a lot of your time. Rest assured, school will be back in session tomorrow with just a few changes. You might notice that some of your peers are not present. They have been relocated to other schools in the area so that McKinley may serve a dual purpose, not only to educate you for the future but also to help control your powers."
He held up his hand as the students erupted into shouts and questions, before falling suddenly silent. A glance to the left showed Sue that one of Mr. Black's associates had silenced the students. Mr. Black looked grim. "There is no need for that. I assure you we are only here to help. However, in order to help you there are some rules that will need to be followed. For one, your families and other citizens of this town have all had their memories modified. All knowledge of these powers have been removed, as have any strange occurrences. Now I know some of you will rush out and try to inform them on what has gone on, but be aware that this will lead to dangerous consequences."
Mr. Black stopped for a moment before continuing. "Due to the nature of these powers, and the original mindwipe in the 50's, knowledge of current events would be detrimental to anyone outside adolescence." There were clear questions this information raised, but the students were still kept silent. "I'm afraid I can't explain more than that. Some things must remain classified for the good and safety of all of us."
Yes, Sue thought, that sounded suitably dramatic and the children wouldn't at all be tempted to press for more information. Mr. Black clearly knew nothing about children. It was a good thing Sue Sylvester was there to clean up his mess.
"Now, as to schooling. You will continue with your regular classes, in addition to specialized training designed to help you all gain control of your powers. Our goal is for you all to be able to use them in an efficient and helpful manner, without endangering yourself or others. We will be dividing you into groups based on your power capabilities. Those will be announced after we've been able to test you all. Those tests will occur at some point this week, the times of which you will be notified of in your homerooms tomorrow." He smiled at the group, either unaware or uncaring of the shock and confusion on their faces. "Now, please return home to your families and prepare for school tomorrow. Have a nice day."
Without another word Mr. Black swept from the room, followed by the men in white coats and the rest of their associates. Sue followed along, mostly because she refused to be beset with hundreds of questions from sniveling children. Let them fend for themselves, they were going to have to learn sooner or later that not everything could be answered neatly.
