Bethan considered a moment, then shook her head briefly. "That wouldn't help, you taking it to them. First off, they're usually pretty obviously mine, at least to anyone who knows me, and second, you can't because you're fucking invisible. I mean, like you said, half the school hardly knows you exist. That's not 'cause you don't do anything. Plenty of people who do less than you get noticed more, and besides, you do a lot. You're just not the sort of person people listen to. If I was going through anyone, it'd be Dan, because he is the sort of person people listen to, plus people actually fucking like him."
Thinking about it, she thought that might be a family thing. Certainly everyone in her family was kind of hard to ignore. She was, too, but while she didn't much care if people liked her (or maybe she was just telling herself that no shut up shut up shut up) she needed Debra on her side, and right at that moment it didn't seem all that politic to remind Debra that not only did she have the charisma of a wet paper bag, but Bethan was charismatic as hell. Hateful, she wasn't under any illusions about that, but charismatic.
