Jaime frowned slightly before it melted into a gentle smile. She was right. It was best if she left now before things got too heated between them. They'd been getting more and more carried away lately and it was good that she'd stopped them then and there.
Given what he'd found out about their future, he should be grateful for her hyper awareness, but he still couldn't help the twinge of disappointment he felt as she stepped away from him.
Opening the door for her, he called to his mother to let her know that he was going to walk Rachel to her car before following his girlfriend into the night. He took her hand, walking with her, the silence of the night soothing. When they reached the end of their short trip, he turned his smile on her again.
