Thread: Talking. In private. About superheroism.
Who: Bethan and Debra
When: Monday morning
Where: The lockers
What: Bethan needs to talk to Debra
Warning: TBD
Bethan had been on edge all weekend, between Dan's decision to start up at school and the incident on Friday night. The worst part was, she couldn't do anything to let off steam after it; the confrontation with Blaine had shaken her more than she cared to admit, and it put her off crime-fighting for a little while. She'd spent most of her weekend on the roof, seething.
It didn't help that she'd fallen back out of the habit of school, after the holidays and the time she'd been off with her injuries. It was hard to head straight back into a press of so many people. Harder still when she felt bad for abandoning Dan to his fate - sure, he was better off without her around on the first few days of school, which was why she hadn't wanted to drive there with him, and sure, he could take care of himself at least as well as she could, but it still felt a bit unfair to just let him wander off and get lost. Whatever, Bethan, she told herself, firmly. He's a big boy, he can take care of himself.
Still, she was on edge - which was why, when she glimpsed Blaine out of the corner of her eye, she thought she was seeing things. God knew it wouldn't be the first time. But he didn't go away, and he seemed extremely real, and staring at him out of the corner of her eye as she stood at her locker, there was no denying that it was the guy from Friday night.
Shit, shit, shit, shit.
She couldn't keep up like this, looking over her shoulder all the time. She hated to admit it - hated the sound of it even in her own head - but she couldn't do this on her own. Her first, instinctive thought was Dan, but that wasn't even remotely an option.
Debra. That fucking bitch, with her coercion and her hold on Bethan... but she knew, and much as Bethan hated to trust her, she wouldn't tell. And maybe, just maybe, she could find a way to patch this whole thing up.
So, when she found her a moment later, she grabbed Debra by the arm. "We need to talk," she said, her voice low.
