Dalton Academy Explodes
Who: Ian When: January 14th, 8pm Where: Dalton Academy What: Ian's roommate blows up the school and kind of dies in the process.
It was a relatively quiet night at Dalton Academy for Gifted Youngsters. A lot of the students were local so they’d gone home for the weekend. Ian and his roommate Charlie were two of the ones who had stayed behind. It didn’t really bother Ian, the whole not going home thing... He just didn’t want to go right now. Things were tense between him and his father though he knew it wasn’t his fault. He was tapping his pencil on his text book, glaring at the pages because he didn’t understand a damn thing that was going on in this science text. Mostly because he was thinking about Blaine and the dungeon and the stripes that were mostly healed on his back.
Charlie made a sound that got Ian concerned and he glanced at his roommate, “What’s wrong, mate?”
Charlie shook his head, “I dunno. I’m so fuckin’ warm. I’m pouring sweat. I feel like I’m just gonna fucking explode.”
Ian frowned and got up, going over to his roommate placing a hand on his forehead and immediately jerking it back. There was no way a person that burning hot could be alive... And then he was pretty sure he knew what was going on. This was a powers thing. It had to be. Charlie’s family was from around the same area as Ian’s and Lima was the epicenter of all things good and evil. Ian calmly grabbed his bag of personal objects that he always kept in case of an emergency and grabbed his warbler cage, “I’ll be back in a second. I’m gonna go get help.”
He was lying. As soon as Ian was in the hallway, he made a beeline for the first fire alarm and ripped it down. About too second later it was like the sun erupted. Ian might have sworn it was fire but no, it was thick and... Solar plasma. That was what he’d been trying to study, he was pretty sure. This was definitely solar plasma. It was funny how he could think of these things while he was racing through the halls at a strangely fast speed to be out on the lawn.
Ian set his things down just in time to watch his whole world burn, sections rapidly collapsing. Part of him wanted to collapse and just watch the flames but he knew he couldn’t. He was the only one who could go safely in and search for survivors until the fire department arrived. Ian dashed back into the building and started searching for people. It took only five minutes for the fire department to arrive but he wasn’t going to stop going in.
Two hours later there were news vans everywhere and so far, there were nothing but survivors although there were several injuries. No sign of Charlie though... Ian was being examined by paramedics, lying and telling people he’d smelled gas but that a guest in his room had accidentally lit a candle which was against dorm rules but that didn’t matter. When he was cleared, Ian gathered his things, pushed past reporters who were clambering to get a comment from the loan teen hero and got into his father’s car to be taken home.
