Her need for a good story, for something fresh and new and nothing like anyone else could truly get had her nodding along with Bethan, even as she was completely sure the girl would have to say yes now. Debra wouldn't undo anything she'd already done, too may changes would lead to questions and she didn't want to jeprodise someone's job, or worse, someone's case. But something like this could easily happen again, and Bethan would need her.
Debra honestly didn't think there was anyone else in Lima who had the capability and willingness to hack into the crime labs and alter results while changing police documents. But it was all for the greater good.
"No one will ever know," people didn't even talk to her, she highly doubted that a few private emails to Bethan would be flagged as 'unusual' or even noticed at all. "I'll be the Oracle to your Batman." She really needed to stop making nerd references.
She wanted to ask for more details about what happened that got Bethan in this state, but she didn't want to push exactly, there were nine possible incidents that had been reported in the last five days that it could've been (New Year brought out the strangest in some people).
"I can do that, journalism is half fabrication of facts to lead to individual speculation anyway." Especially if someone looked at some of her older stories.
