Who: Gemini Cave
When: December 30, 2012
Where: The Bat-Cave
What: Twins are forced into the same room, Cas hides behind a puppy.
Warning: Blood, pus, misuse (?) of powers, home surgery...this is kind of gross, y’all.
Pollux had promised to come over. He didn’t exactly want to but he needed to. Well that wasn’t quite right. He wanted to see Cas as always, but their fight had hit a little too deep. Really how could he not be jealous of Dave? He had Cas. He had his heart if Pol wanted to speak in their twin language. That term and Cas’ name had always been the same words and they were no different now.
Pol turned the idea of just running over in his head. Could he handle Seeing Cas and Dave touch? It wasn’t sexual, not any more. He’d spent so long obsessing over Dave replacing him that he didn’t see the problem for what it was. I wasn’t Dave replacing him that was so upsetting, it was the elimination of any space for him in Cas’ life. He sighed, pacing as he walked his way from his grandparent’s to Cas and Dave’s place. He needed the time and the cold air to clear his head.
His time spent with Quinn had taken much of the bitterness from his heart. He needed to speak his fears, his loneliness out loud. She gave him that chance. He found himself beginning to smile as he walked up the street where his brother now lived. He had someone, not just Jadyn who was more a partner then someone to love, to feel connected to, to hold, to simply smile with few words necessary. It helped. He found his way up the driveway.
Dave had been hovering by the door pretty much all day, wanting to give Cas as much warning as possible for when Pol showed up. Seeing him come up the drive, he shouted through the house, “Hey Cas! Pol’s here!”
Truth be told he wasn’t sure how he felt about all of this. It was true he was still jealous as fuck of Pollux, of the relationship he and Cas had shared - still shared? God he hoped not - and he really didn’t want to take any chances, but...well, after spending Christmas without his father and grandmother around, he was starting to realize the importance of family.
Sherlock came bounding in at his daddy’s yell, and Dave caught him up and planted a kiss on the top of his head. “Now you be nice to your uncle, okay?”
Cas knew something was up from the way Dave’d been hovering around the door all day but he hadn’t asked. He didn’t need to. All of a sudden there was the announcement that Pol was arriving. Part of him wanted to run to the door. Another part wanted to cry. The biggest part did what he knew best - started to run.
He would’ve grabbed Sherlock and brought the puppy with him but the little German Shepherd had gone to Dave at the shouting. To punctuate his departure, there was only the sound of the back door shutting. Of course this was secondary to his hiding - the massive Castor-tall sea of grass in the back ground helped quite a lot more. He settled in behind the fig tree and hugged his knees to his chest. Now he let himself tremble a little.
Pol rolled his eyes at the loud voice of Man-mountain. Really the man was so abysmally obvious. His steps brought him to the opening door, immediately searching for his twin. The only bouncing excitable thing in view was the pup. He couldn’t help smiling. “So this is the new baby?”
So what if it wasn’t the most standard of greetings, it was better then voicing any of the other options when he saw Dave. Most of them being ‘Where’s my brother’, ‘get out of my way’, or ‘he’s still happy with you right?’. He reached out the back of his hand to the little thing, letting it sniff before scratching the happy thing.
Sherlock immediately rolled over to bare his tummy and made contented little whining sounds. Dave jumped a little at the back door slamming and glanced over his shoulder, cursing, before he tossed his head. “You, uh. Remember the way to the backyard? I think Cas just made a run for it...”
He headed for the door and poked his head out. “Castor, do not make me send the cat after you.”
But Castor didn’t answer. He just sat behind the fig tree and shivered. It was cold. This was stupid. He didn’t care.
Pol tried to smile, as if Dave had made a joke. If Cas was running.. He shook his head at the pain that threatened to stop him from speaking in favor of tears. “Maybe It’s better I go.”
Dave rolled his eyes. “No. I’m sick of the two of you angsting over one another. We’re gonna fix this and all be a family and shit.” Dave stepped out into the yard. “Cas. C’mon. It’s just your brother.”
He headed for the fig tree and shuffled around it until he struck something solid, then parted the grass and sighed. “Castor, come out. This is ridiculous.”
Cas shook his head and curled up tighter. God he was cold. “Why should I come out? He’s probably just going to be mean again,” his voice cracked and the tears started then. He hadn’t spoken to Pollux since that fight on his journal... A piece of him was missing, leaving a hollow spot. “I don’t like this feeling... Why does it hurt so bad?”
Pol had of course followed Dave, the pup following them happily, butting into Pol’s leg affectionately before running after his daddy. It immediately joined the search for mommy.
Pol stayed back, the words cutting through him. Why had he even come? It was clear that Cas wanted nothing to do with him. “I’m sorry.” It wasn’t a phrase he used. He believe you should always do with intent, take the consequences but never be sorry of actions. He also usually thought he was right. “Thank you for the attempt David...”
“No, Pollux - “ Dave could have screamed. “Would the two of you just talk to one another? Actually talk without sniping and bitching? You’re both pretty, girls, now go fix your makeup and make this all right.”
Cas scooped up Sherlock and hugged the fuzzy creature close. Sherlock started licking his face profusely. Very slowly he stood up, staring at the ground. “You never say sorry. Why are you saying it now? You never take things back.” Cas hadn’t at all been sniping or bitching. He was fucking hurt because his twin had turned on him in a moment of happiness and crushed it. He had every right to be upset.
“Because I took out my jealousy on you. And that was wrong.” He was fessing up to it, he might as well shoot it straight. “I wasn’t angry about you and Dave. It was bound to happen. I was angry I wasn’t the first one you contacted, or even someone you contacted one on one at all. I found out from an impersonal broad announcement meant for anyone. So I lashed out. I know you’d pick it up.” Pol watched Cas, not willing to move his eyes away.
“If I’m not to be apart of your new life in this place at least tell me so I don’t expect it.” Yes it was a little bitter, but Some days he felt like he was under whiplash from Cas. Ever since they came here he didn’t know if he was supposed to be close, or keep his distance. They went from brother, to lovers, to anger, to Cas’ Tree Man demanding Pol die.... Pol hadn’t even sorted through all the emotions.
Well at least they weren’t screaming. “Would you like to move inside where it’s warm? Pol you can meet the chameleon, she’s a riot.” Dave held his hands out to the both of them and smiled in a way he hoped didn’t scream, “I am thinking about strangling you both.”
Cas shh’d at Dave. They’d go inside in a second. “Pol... I didn’t tell you because I thought you’d take your jealousy out on me anyway. I was dreading it. Part of me didn’t want to tell you at all because I was going to hurt you and I knew it but...” He bit his bottom lip and stared at the ground, “You can’t keep acting like the jealous ex-boyfriend.”
He sighed hiding his face in Sherlock’s scruff and now he was getting his ear licked which was... kind of unpleasant if he were going to be honest about it but he wasn’t going to tell his baby no. “I love you. I want to see you but you’ve been so negative and I just don’t know what to do. It almost seems like we’d have to set at least a weekly date just to see each other otherwise I’m so busy with dance and theater and glee club and trying to find a job...”
“Then how am I supposed to act?” He pressed his lips into a thin line. “Or are we supposed to ignore that part? Just sweep it under the rug and don’t talk about it because everyone else thinks it’s shameful? I am jealous. I am your jilted lover. I am your ex who you begged to sleep with you. Or are we just going to ignore that part because Dave made everything better and he is so much more important to you?”
Tears were in his eyes now and there was no going back on them. “I thought it would make you love me again. I thought it would bring us back together. You’re afraid to touch me now. I’m not going to hurt you dammit! I want my brother back!”
Dave quietly headed inside to leave the brothers alone, and went to sit on the couch and snuggle with Naum because...well what the fuck else was he supposed to do? He didn’t want to hear this shit about how he ruined everything. Yeah, he knew that already, thanks a lot. And he knew all about how many times Cas had gone back to Pol. He didn’t need to hear about it again.
Cas sighed a little when Dave left but looked back to Pol, “You don’t get it. You’ve never gotten it. It’s not me I’m afraid is going to get hurt. I can’t trust... myself around you. I’d hurt Dave just by trying. Then I would be sad and you would be even more mad and I just don’t know what to do. It’s all too much for my stupid brain to handle.” He smiled in a self-depreciating way.
Pol sighed at Cas. Really what the hell were they supposed to do now. Everything was fucked up and turned around. He never should have given in. “Then trust me. I’m not going to lay with you again. I know exactly how much it hurt you.” His hand can up to rub the point on his neck where Tree Man had held him telling him Cas only wanted to see him dead.
Cas winced knowing just what Pol was sort of referring to. He bit his lip and glanced away, “I still don’t know what Tree-Man said or did. Not really but... That doesn’t matter. What matters is I would want to try...” He tried to think of a way to make amends and all he could think of was an exchange of information. “I have something to tell you. It’s a secret. Dave doesn’t know either.”
Pol didn’t ever intend to tell his brother what was said. He knew Cas would take it onto himself. “What is it?” Something that Dave didn’t know? There didn’t seem to be anything that Dave wasn’t privy to, and certainly nothing that was sacred just between them any longer.
A trembling hand reached out to take Pol’s then push his twin’s fingers through his hair. Underneath his scalp there were... bumps. Small round things spaced out at random. Then he put that same hand on his forearm, pressing the fingertips in so Pol could feel the bumps there too, “I know... how Tree-Man came to be. I think.”
Pol frowned feeling the bumps. Those both did not feel natural nor did they feel innocuous. He pressed his fingers along the nubs on Cas’ arm before letting his hand slide into Cas’, lacing their fingers together. “What are those?”
Setting Sherlock down to free up a hand, he reached into his pants pocket and produced a handful of bloody seeds, “These... I... I had to dig them out of my skin. I had to go pretty deep. These ones came out of my calf. They’re everywhere...” Like Tree-Man, it was a living nightmare and one he didn’t want Dave knowing about unless he had no other option.
Pol’s face instantly dropped into terror. “Cas... Fuck.” He immediately wrapped his free arm around Cas’ waist to pull him close. “Will taking them out stop him?”
Castor curled into his twin, hiding his face in the crook of Pol’s neck automatically, “I don’t know... What if they’re... I mean... What if there are some in like my organs and stuff? What if he goes that deep?” He could sort of always feel plants around him but he hadn’t figured it out until recently and now there were so many seeds he couldn’t tell how deep they ran.
Pol began petting Cas’ back, worrying. “We’ll find a way to find out. Maybe if you can feel them you can locate them.... I have an Idea. Cas will you trust me for a moment? Stay still.” Pol concentrated on the ground below him. He knew he could take things with him when he blinked.. what if... He hugged Cas close to him and concentrated on a little blade of grass that was touching his foot. If he could take it with him without disturbing the dirt.... blink
His head was swirling. Cas didn’t take to blinking too well. Hiding his face in Pol’s shoulder he groaned the question, “Where are we?” He didn’t want to look in case everything was spinning horribly.
“In Man-mountain’s front yard.” He looked down at the grass, finding it has been neatly removed from the soil. “Look. blinked clear from the dirt.I might be able to do that to the seeds without hurting to too much.”
Cas sighed a little - well it was certainly a thought... He bit his bottom lip roughly, wondering what the next step should be. “Okay.... Okay. Try it on one of the ones in my arm. I would say my head but then um... might accidentally do something really bad. Arm isn’t as bad.”
“Alright... I’m going to blink backward with it a few steps.” He took a deep breath. He squeezed his brother one last time. He moves so only the tip of his finger was over the seed. He blinked and the seed came with him, leaving the skin on the surface in tact. The round bulb lay in his palm bloody, but lacking flesh around it. “It worked.”
It might have worked but there was one problem with this theory. With the seed missing there was tissue out of place under Cas’s skin - a hole filling with blood and aching muscle fighting to work it’s way back into place. He whimpered in pain, squeezing his eyes shut tightly. “Y-yes... It did.”
Pol frowned, instantly moving back over. “Cas... ” He frowned, trying to work out what he could do. “It hurt you... We need medical help for this.”
“No!” Cas pretty much screamed, backing away rapidly, “We can’t do that! They already know there’s chlorophyll in my blood - how the fuck would we explain this?” He turned sharply and started towards the house, “I need to drain this before it becomes infected or something...”
“I didn’t mean the hospital. There are nurses who are more willing to keep quiet.” He followed swiftly behind his brother. “If we pierce your skin with a thin needle that should let it drain...?”
“I can’t trust them... I’ll just have to do it myself, bit by bit,” Castor muttered a bit defiantly. He didn’t mean it to be like that but it was. He led the way into the house, “Trust me, Pollux... I know how to hurt myself.” That probably wasn’t something Pol wanted to hear but it was the truth. He briefly glanced at Dave as they moved through the living room and led the way to the bathroom.
Dave sat up a little, eyes red, when the brothers tromped through. He motioned at Pol when Cas’ back was turned and whispered, “How’s it going?” His voice sounded rough and definitely like he’d been crying for a while, which, okay yeah, he had, but whatever.
“Better then expected.” Pol was honest. Really he’d been worried Cas would throw him right out. “Worrying.”
Cas let Pol and Dave have their time mostly because he was more interested in disappearing into the bathroom. In there, tucked away, he had acupuncture needles. He used a cotton ball and alcohol to sterilise the needle and then the place on his arm that was turning a black color from the blood underneath. While Pol and Dave were distracted, Cas jabbed the acupuncture needle into his skin praying he didn’t hit a vein...
It was honestly a relief when the blood started to leak out after he removed the needle. Holding it between his teeth by the plastic handle, he started massaging and squeezing the spot until it properly burst and the slightly green tinged blood was properly leaking out - along with something that said infection had already been starting to set in. It was like that every time when he removed the seeds.
Dave got to his feet properly and wiped his eyes, sniffled, and loped after Cas. He knocked on the door and rumbled, “Hey, babe,” then paused before continuing with, “You okay?” He glanced at Pol and whispered, “What happened?”
Pol did not really like keeping this secret from Dave he very suddenly realized. The need to open mouth and inform the Man-Mountain so he could help Cas was almost over whelming. “He was injured lightly. He’s going to be fine.” Or at least he would be once he could remove those seeds. They would need time, days and the right tools to do after care.
Cas leaned against the sink and slid down to sit on the floor. That felt like it was a lot more blood than usual. He was a little queasy. He’d deal. “I’m fine!” he managed to call out and closed his eyes. “Just... Go away for a little bit, huh?” Cas lifted his arm above his head, hoping that would help with the damned blood flow issue here.
Dave turned to look at Pol, confused, then said, “Is that an actual ‘I’m fine’ or an ‘you’re going to worry if I tell you what’s really going on’? Because Pol said you got hurt...” He looked back to Pol. “How the fuck did he get hurt?”
“He...” He sighed deeply and looked at the door. That did not sound like a normal ‘I’m fine’. “He had...” Pol huffed once, looking a shocking amount like his brother for that flash. “I suck and lying and I don’t like doing it. I blinked a seed out from under his skin.”
“It’s an actual I’m Fine,” Cas argued, “And Pol, you are now like... dead to me. Forever. Okay, not really but I’m mad at you! You... Urgh, you said you wouldn’t tell him...” he pulled his knees to his chest, putting himself in a very odd physical position but he didn’t care really.
“You did what now?” Dave snarled. “Do you know how much that could have hurt him and - wait what the fuck, a fucking seed?!” He turned on the bathroom door and started banging on it with a little more force and hysteria than were really necessary. “Castor open the fucking door!”
Pol frowned at the comment from his brother. “It was for your own good. And I can’t lie.” He sighed at the Man-mountain’s bull in a china-shop antics. “move aside.”
Once he got Dave to shift enough to get the handle he turned it. “I know how much I could have. I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t think it was necessary.”
“I know. You’re a worse liar than me. At least I learned from acting,” Cas muttered, sighing a little as he forced himself to stand up. Then the door was opening and there was a hysterical Dave and a very calm Pollux. It was Pol he hooked on to so he wouldn’t go nuts himself. “It’s fine. I’m fine. I bled the hole.”
“You did WHAT?!” Dave all but screeched. He dug his fingers into his sleeves so he wouldn’t reach out and touch or slap or rend limb from limb. “What’s this about goddamn seeds under your skin?”
Pol tucked an arm around his twin’s waist to steady him. Of course Pol was worried, but getting upset wasn’t going to help. “Did it work? You sterilized the tool right?”
“Of course I did,” Cas answered Pollux first. Dave was freaking out and Pol was calm. He nestled against his twin, looking at his bloody arm. “I just discovered it recently,” he finally told Dave, glancing away, “I think that’s what makes Tree-Man but it’s just a theory. They’re... all over.”
Oh well at least Cas was being safe in his self mutilation - and that fucking hypocritical voice at the back of his head could shut the fuck up right now. Dave swallowed hard and said, feeling a little woozy, “Well that makes sense...a little...” Well of course plants came from seeds, just...not seeds in someone’s fucking body. Usually. Oh fuck he was gonna puke...
He swallowed down the bile rising in his throat and managed, “How much is ‘all over’?”
Pol petted his thumb up and down Cas’ side trying to sooth him from the highly emotional reaction of Dave. “All over summs it up. I can take them from his body without having to dig a trench in his skin... but it looks like He’ll have to drain them.” Pol’s nose wrinkled right at the bridge of his nose at the thought. “You should have let me help with the second part. My hand would be steadier.”
Cas nodded in agreement with Pol. All over was the perfect summary. “They’re... like cysts I think. They leave this hole in my muscles and it just fills up with bad things.” He glanced at his twin and smiled faintly, “My hand was fine. I’ve done things like this before...” Okay, so he was admitting to self-mutilation to his twin which was something Pol didn’t know about. Not one bit.
“Okay I...I need a minute. Possibly five. If you need me I’ll be puking in the sink.” And with that Dave ran back down the hall to the kitchen and vomited because seriously? That would be horrific on anyone else, but on Cas...Jesus Christ that was just too much. He fisted his hands in his hair and wondered, a little horrified, how he had missed all this...
“Castor.” And yes, the full name came out, Pol was pissed. “You have been hurting yourself.” He wasn’t asking. “Explain.”
Cas winced. He was in trouble with Dave and Pol. At least Dave was just ill for now although he would’ve approved of Dave throwing up in the yard and not the sink. He was not cleaning that up. As for Pol... He sighed softly, “I was really depressed, okay? And the drugs were kicking my ass. But I’m mostly clean now and the hurting thing is mostly stopped. I keep it saved for other things now.”
“Of course.” He pressed his lips together and tightened his grip on Cas’ hip. “I love you as does Man-Mountain. Tell us so we can help. Even if it’s just to sit without talking and just be.”
Cas pressed a finger to Pol’s lips, “Shh. Other things is defined as kinky sex. Not sitting and talking about my sad times. I don’t like to think about them. The puppy is a good listener and he helps me figure things out on my own.” Then he blinked and seemed to remember something, “Did I ever give you a peyote button? I took a spirit walk ages ago. Did I tell you? I can’t remember.”
Pol instantly rolled his eyes and grinned at the same time over the ‘kinky sex.’ He could imagine... and all of those imaginings were incredibly hot and not something he needed to think about now that he was back on good terms with Cas. “We haven’t spoken for a long time. No. I didn’t.”
“Mm. Well I have a button saved for you. If you want it. It was so weird, man... Things were talking to me and Athena was my spirit guide in owl form. And I stole a chameleon from a pet store,” Cas giggled, resting his head on Pol’s shoulder.
Dave came back around then, wiping his mouth on the back of his hand. He’d cleaned up the kitchen a little, so Cas wouldn’t have to worry about that being that he had so much else to worry about right now...
He leaned in the doorway, happy to see the twins looking...at ease with one another, at least. Granted they were talking about drugs but...baby steps, he guessed.
“I’m better now,” he mumbled when he was sure he wouldn’t break the moment, then held out his hand to Cas. “Can I see your arm?”
Pol shook his head and smiled wholly amused by the vision quest. "I'm sure she helped guide you." He looked up to Dave's not recovered and no longer green around the gills face. He was going to have to keep closer contact to Cas. He and man-mountain's all encompassing romance didn't seem so perfect once he was this close.
“She did. So I saved one for you so you could find a path too--,” He glanced up as Dave came back and smiled faintly. “Better? Good.” And then Dave wanted to see his arm. Shit. Okay. Um. Cas nodded and turned so Dave could get a better look at his arm but it curled him more into Pol than maybe he should’ve been.
Dave ignored the spike of fear and anger in his gut and instead examined Cas’ arm, but considering he kind of wasn’t a medical professional or anything... “Should we take you to Mrs. Hudson? I mean, this...can’t be good, doing this kind of shit by yourself.” He smiled, just a little, and said, “And saying you’re doing it with your brother doesn’t count.”
He immediately began petting his brother’s back to sooth him. Pol smirked at Dave’s comment. Seems like someone knew Cas well. “Hudson. Do you trust her? We need medical advice to do it right...”
Mrs. Hudson would be a good option but Cas started to panic anyway. “No! I don’t need the fucking help!” He pulled away from both of them and started to back out of the bathroom. “I did a whole calf without any help at all! It’ll be fine. I’ll be fine. I can do this!”
Dave seriously considered banging his head against the wall a few times, but ultimately decided that was maybe a little more counter-productive than he wanted to be. He looked at Pol, feeling lost for a minute, before he turned back to Cas. “Honey, sunshine, we just want to help. You don’t need to do this all by yourself. You shouldn’t be doing this all by yourself.” He caught Cas’ wrists and murmured, “For my sake...I can’t lose you...”
Pol watched the heartfelt plea for a moment. Dave spoke the words he couldn’t. He waited looking for Cas to calm. If he didn’t... Well he didn’t need Cas’ cooperation to go speak with Ms. Hudson now did he?
“No,” Castor said firmly, “We don’t even know how much Kurt has told her about all this shit. If she finds out about this, I’m so beyond fucked. She seems nice, I know. But I also know that nice people can turn on you at the first inkling of a high profit.” His eyes flicked to Pol. His twin knew exactly what Cas was talking about - the elders had done the same thing. He pulled at his arms, trying to get Dave to let go, “You’ll lose me if I don’t do this. They’re getting infected.”
Dave cursed and hung his head, breathing deeply for a moment, before he pressed a kiss to Cas’ forehead. He looked to Pol, hoping for a little acceptance and cooperation from him, before he said, “Okay. Okay, fine. What do we have to do?”
Pol took a breath at the look and memory that passed between them. No one could be trusted on ‘good nature’ alone. “First we need sterilized needles and a clean place to work. I can remove them without removing skin but it need to be drained. Can you pierce him David? Can you do that?”
Cas was suddenly nervous. Really nervous, “W-wait. I’m not sure I have enough blood in my body to do all of them tonight... It might have to be over time.” But then what if they came back? He didn’t know if they would or not so that was definitely a major fear.
“I’m gonna have to, aren’t I? You got enough needles, ‘cause I think the best place to work would be the tub since it’s easy clean up...although I’m not sure we can all fit in here comfortably enough to work...”
Dave kissed Cas sweetly. “Sunshine you said it yourself. We don’t have time. But we’ll do whatever you’re comfortable with.”
“A plan of action is better then none. We can do a limited amount in each area. I... I’m not practiced enough to do the ones in your scalp yet.” Pol reached out to place a steadying hand on Dave before moving to his brother. “We’re here. You tell us when and then we stop. You are strong enough for this Cas.”
Now he felt like he was being pushed and it showed on Cas’s face. They were pushing him to speed this up, pushing him into being rid of Tree-Man and he... Felt like a murderer. Tree-Man was like a secondary being living inside of him. This had to be murder, right? He hiccoughed a bit and then... Then he was crying like a little boy who desperately needed a nap but was still working on getting his jeans off as he stepped into the tub so they could get the seeds out of his legs first.
Well Dave felt like shit. He bit his lip and rubbed across Cas’ back, helping him into the tub before getting in with him. “Honey, it’s okay, we’ll take care of you...” He glanced at Pol, lost as to what to do for what felt like the billionth time that evening.
Pol shared that look, giving Dave staunch resolve in return. It had to be done. He pressed his fingers over the first spot of seed, feeling it rooted under his skin. He took a breath and blinked. He moved only about a half inch to the left, but the seed came with him in the same manner as before. “One.”
Cas sucked in a sharp breath when the seed popped out with Pol’s teleportation. There was that sensation again - muscle pulsing and throbbing; a hole filling up with hot blood and him feeling a little dizzy. And they hadn’t even drained it yet. It hurt - his eyes squeezed shut so tight he was certain his eyelids were about to turn inside out. “I don’t like this...” But his voice was so tiny and quiet it was almost impossible to hear him.
Dave waited until Pol had moved away to drain the area, feeling a little sick as blood and pus - pus, pus, oh god pus that wasn’t good - ran out. “Oh fuck, honey...” He rubbed at Cas’ knee and whimpered a little in sympathy. “I know, Castor, I know. But it’s either this or you get sick and we have to take you somewhere and...” He shuddered. “I don’t want to think about it. Just...” He cupped Cas’ chin and gently stroked over one of his cheekbones. “Just go away, go somewhere better than this for a little while. Meditate, pray...whatever you need to do.”
Pol hated hurting Cas. The sounds ripped out parts of his heart. He watched, forcing himself to detach. “Feel the cleansing white light in your core.” He was referring to a pain-regulation meditation technique. His hand hovered over the next seed. “Three, two one.” blink
“Cleansing white light,” Cas mocked sharply in a way that was entirely too reminiscent of Tree-Man but was entirely him. “You two are too fucking slow is what it is. Go faster.” When he had been doing it himself, he had been a bit of a machine. It’d been easier. Cut. Dig. Move on. Cut. Dig. Move on. Now he had to wait for people to move around just because they were afraid of him doing it alone. He let his head thunk against the side of the tub, covering his face with his hands and just wanting to shake them both off and make them go away...
“Going as fast as we can, Cas,” Dave grunted, bleeding the new hole. “Less damage this way.” He nodded at Pol to tell him to go again.
Pol took another, trying to obey his brother’s wish. He stopped the countdown, hoping the sudden shock would induce his natural adrenal system to combat the pain. Over and over the seeds came out into his hand to then drop on the counter.
As more and more seeds came out there was more and more blood to follow and after quite a few seeds, Cas had to croak out, “No more. Oh fuck...” There seemed like there was a lot of blood and he was hurting really badly and... He was just done for the night. No more. Cas covered his face with his hands, trying to will himself not to look as pale as he felt.
“Okay, honey, okay. We’re done.” Dave looked at Pol for confirmation and then began to rinse off the bruising holes in Cas’ legs. “Pol, there’s some antibiotic shit in the cabinet, could you grab that for me please?”
Who knew it would take this of all things to finally bring them all together?
