Thread: Meet the Parents Date: November 11, Evening Characters: Jaime, Rachel, Mr. and Mr. Berry Location: Rachel's house Summary: Jaime has dinner with Rachel and her parents
Jaime stood on Rachel's doorstep, his brows furrowed as he tried to convince himself to ring the doorbell. He'd been standing there close to five minutes, after debating with himself to get out of his car for five minutes. He'd arrived to Rachel's house early for the dinner he was supposed to have with her dads, but as soon as he parked, doubt started to creep in. Was it rude to show up early? What if they thought that he didn't think eight o'clock was a good enough time so he chose to arrive at a different time? What if they thought he wasn't good enough for Rachel because he couldn't follow simple directions?
Finally he'd manage to convince himself that he was being ridiculous and made his way to her front door. But just as he was reaching to ring the doorbell, he froze again, staring at the bouquet of roses he held in his other hand. Was it presumptuous to bring flowers? Would they think that he thought this was a date? Was this a date? Should he ask? And if they did think that he thought this was a date, would that be a dead give away that he'd been sleeping with Rachel in her bed for the last week? Would they be able to tell just from looking at him? They would, they would totally be able to tell, and then they'd never let him see Rachel again. What would he do then? He didn't think he could bear it if that happened.
Jaime scrubbed his hand over his face, trying to calm his frazzled nerves. He knew that he was blowing things way out of proportion but he couldn't help it. He was never this nervous when it came to making good impressions, but this one was just so important. He'd already made a bad first impression, he couldn't mess this one up. He just couldn't. When his watched chimed that it was eight o'clock, he took a deep breath.
'Show time', he thought, reaching to ring the doorbell.
