Artcedes Party Who: Friends of Mercedes & Artie What: Early Artcedes Birthday Bash / Halloween Blowout Where: The Haunted Hospital When: Saturday, 10/29 (Backdated) Warnings: Spook-tacular
(( Read summary of party events. Add reactions & tags. Gonna do this McKinley-football-game style since there was alreay a party this weekend. Threads are cool, if desired. ))
The black-and-orange lights, which were lit up quite mysteriously without any sort of plugs or extension cords, really set the stage for the spooky party, as did the borrowed fog machines, which also ran without any sort of power source. The music from Artie's iPod, a shuffle dedicated to Halloween songs and dance music, blared from a set of speakers, although it was playing much louder than would seem possible, given the small source of the sound. Tina had really outdone herself for this one.
As guests arrived, they were greeted by Amy Abrams, who was visiting from college for her little brother's birthday party. She was annoyingly strict about the drinking, choosing to plop herself in front of the wine coolers and beers, and set herself to the task of monitoring who had what and how much. Artie couldn't complain too much about her antics, however, because she'd done him a huge favor for the party. Having recruited several visiting college kids from her own graduating class, Amy organized a 'Haunted Hike' in the wooded area around the old hospital. Amy's roommate led guests through the woods, which were filled with screams and witches brewing potions and the grand finale, Amy's boyfriend chasing the frightened teens back into the hospital with a chainless chainsaw.
Once Mercedes and Artie had been properly serenaded with 'Happy Birthday' and the guests had eaten their cake, the dancing was underway. Artie, who had chosen to revisit his football-player zombie costume, minus the wheelchair, led the group in a lively rendition of 'Thriller.' But when the song came to an abrupt end, things took a turn for the weird. As Michael Jackson hit the final note of the song, all the lights went out, the fog machines shut off, and the music stopped playing. Screams filled the air. Cell phones came out to give off light, followed by flashlights. They had brought flashlights, in case of emergency, and it was a good thing they'd taken that last-minute precaution. Artie went looking for Tina, to see if she could get the power to come back on.
But what he found was even more startling than the chainless chainsaw on the Haunted Hike. Someone - or something? - had stolen all of the stringed lights. Literally, dozens and dozens of strands... gone.
As Artie reluctantly called off the party, the guests hurried out in a panic. The air was definitely chilly, apart from the sudden cold front that weekend. Artie didn't know how to explain it, just like he didn't know how to explain Puck setting things on fire or Ava stealing voices or Finn flying or himself healing from any injury, but one thing was certain: someone didn't want them there tonight.
