Thread: Rachel's Future Meeting Who: Rachel, whoever shows up to her meeting (add your tags, por favor) When: 10/18, after Glee Where: Choir Room What: Rachel discusses her trip to the future, and shares what she's learned.
Rachel watched as Ramon trudged in one of the last seats in the back of the choir room, scowl firmly in place. He may have been trudging in at the last minute, but at least he was present. They were ready to start.
She moved to the front of the room, dragging the cart she had commandeered from Mr. Schue - the one that now hold all of her supplies - with her. He had been a little put out when she explained she'd need him to clear the choir room immediately for her and Kurt's PFLAG meeting, but he'd done so without much complaint. That didn't stop him from eyeing the odd array of people filtering into the choir room with confusion, however.
Clearing her throat, she stopped the conversations that had started up among those gathered and smiled widely as attention turned to her. "Hello everyone! Thank you for coming to my meeting this afternoon. I know that it's customary to give at least 48 hours' notice before assembling such a group, and so for that I apologize.
"Now, turning to the topic at hand, I am now willing to explain myself. Two weeks ago today, I traveled to the future. Specifically, I traveled to May 25th, 2015, in New York City, New York." She took in the skeptical looks and sporadic chuckles that filtered around the room. She smirked triumphantly. She had come prepared.
"I am aware that this may sound... farfetched. But as most of you know, many teenagers all around Lima have been developing certain abilities. Mine seems to be directly related to time. Clearly, this particular power is not as ostentatious as super strength," she said, eyeing Ramon, "or electrical manipulation," her eyes drifted to Dave, "but I assure you, it is no less real. And I can prove it."
She reached back to the cart that she had brought over, grabbing a large piece of poster board that she had placed on top of it. She sat it up in front of her, in full view of her audience. "This is a picture that I received from my guide during my visit. You may doubt its validity, if you must, but I assure you that it has not been manipulated in any way, and I have the original that can act as my proof." On the poster board was the photo that Rachel had seen on Dave's wall of graduation. She had felt bad about smuggling it back without him knowing, but it was a completely necessary evil. It was likely that no one would believe her, otherwise.
After all, the picture was quite convincing, especially considering that everyone in the room today was in the picture. There was a large "Class of 2012" banner that was visible off to the left, along with others taking their own commemorative photos. All of the graduating seniors were gathered together, in their red and white robes. A few of them had black sashes over the ensemble, indicating that they graduated with honors. The underclassmen were all gathered as well; Artie, Tina, Olivia and Abigail had made sure to insert themselves in the middle of the group, while Deb, Ava, and a few other teens she didn't recognize all gathered on the edges in their Sunday best.
Taking the silence as a good sign, see continued. "As you can see, this is no joke. Everyone in this room right now has a special ability of some kind, and they will come in use in the coming days." She took on a grim look, trying to express the seriousness of her words. "The last thing my guide said to me is that something big was coming. He called it a 'storm.' He said that all of us have to stick together. Now is not the time for grudges or individual vendettas. For whatever reason, we have been chosen to receive these abilities,a nd we should use them responsible. To that in,I have done some research and created informational packets for all of you."
She moved to the cart again, this time pulling out a stack of folders. She walked to the person nearest to her - Puck - and handed him the stack, indicating that he should take one and pass it down. "In 1949, there were reports in Lima and surrounding cities of strange happenings. The local movie theatre caught on fire, but the source could not be detected. A room full of elementary school children reported their teacher's desk moving across the room by itself. Things would disappear instantaneously, even as someone was looking directly at it. Then, in 1951, it all stopped. The events seemed ridiculous, and so everyone either forgot about them, or turned them into ghost stories.
"This wasn't isolated to Lima, either. Small towns all over the country had similar occurrences that just abruptly stopped. Recently, there have been message boards full of people that claim to have these abilities. We are not alone." She paused for a second, trying to figure out how to explain the next part. "These individuals have been reporting strange incidents lately, and some believe them to be hostile. Knowing what we know, we have to keep alert."
Taking a deep breath, she clasped her hands in front of her, smiling lightly. "Now, while I was in the future, I had the benefit of learning a few things. I reserve the right to withhold anything that may be detrimental to any of your individual futures, but I do have things I'd like to tell you. Firstly, though, does anyone have any questions?"
