log: extremis & alpha WHO: Luka Romanov & Billy Sinclair WHAT: Sunday, August 11th. After Steven is apprehended, SHIELD comes after Luka. Luka and Billy are so not down with that.

Billy, unfortunately, was stuck sharing his bedroom with Pella and Steven’s arsenal of weapons. Luka hadn’t given him much of a choice; as soon as Yoko had attempted to confiscate anything, Steven had sent Luka to clear out his apartment before she could get there. It meant that there was a stockpile in the safest place---the bedroom---and that Billy couldn’t do much about it.
The day was quiet, and the night was shaping up to be quiet, too, until Luka came back from the sub-basement and interrupted whatever Billy was doing with, “Get in the bedroom.”
Billy looked up from his place on the couch, blinking. His ears perked immediately; someone else might not have noticed the tone of Luka’s voice, but something was wrong. He could smell it. “Luka?” He closed his book and tossed it down onto the coffee table.
“Come on---” Luka gave Billy a nudge, propelling him toward the other room and closing the door behind them. “There are some people coming for me,” he explained, moving over to Steven’s stockpile. “I don’t want you to go after them. I don’t want you to help me, all right?”
Billy moved quickly, but he was craning his neck toward the door and half fighting Luka the whole way. Once he was in the bedroom, he went for the doorknob. In his wolf form he would have been pawing at the door and trying to get out. “Coming after you? What do you mean coming after you? Who? Who?”
He snarled, bolting to the bedroom window and seeing if he could see anything outside. “Wouldn’t someone stop them? We’re in an apartment, everyone’s going to come out and stop them. No one’s taking you away.”
“No one’s going to stop them, Billy. They’re SHIELD. They’re here to arrest me. I can hear the chatter on their radios.” Luka considered the options before taking a knife to tuck into his belt and picking up a handgun. “But I don’t know if I can trust them or not.”
Billy’s eyes flickered to the weapons. “You can’t go shooting at SHIELD agents,” he said hoarsely. “Not after what happened to Agent Rhodes----and I’m not letting you go alone.” With a growl, Billy shuddered and slipped into his natural form. He’d been trained at the school for three years, he’d been in battle before. Hell, he’d lashed out at a fan who was flirting with Luka too hard. If someone was going to take Luka, he was going to fight.
“Billy, don’t.” Luka tucked the gun into the back of his jeans before he went over, putting his hands on Billy’s shoulders. “I really don’t want you involved in this. I don’t want to shoot them, either, I just feel safer with a little backup in case I mess up with my powers. They’re working on bad information and they’re just doing their jobs, but I need to get out of here.”
Billy nuzzled Luka hard, then bolted back to the window. “We can go out the back. We can make a run for it. They’ll come to an empty apartment. I know the woods like the back of my hand, I can hunt, we can bide our time there until this blows over and we know you’re safe.” He looked back over his shoulder. “Come on. Let’s go. Just run for it. We don’t have to fight.”
“You’re sure? I won’t get you into this unless you’re sure.” But Luka was already reaching for a bag.
Billy tipped his head, ears twitching. “Of course I’m sure,” he said serenely. “You’re mine. And you’re not getting dragged anywhere.” He didn’t bother with a bag, but he grabbed a sweatshirt and tugged it on. “Take more of the weapons if you need them, then just follow me.”
Luka was tossing the weapons into the bag, along with the cash he kept in the back of the sock drawer. They wouldn’t be able to touch plastic for a while if they were on the run. “I love you. You know that, right?”
Billy smiled. It wasn’t the same as when he was in his human form, but it was enough. “I know that. I love you, too. And no one’s taking you on my watch.” He went back to the window and opened it. “How much time do we have?”
