A curt nod was about all he deserved most days. Clearly she'd come all the way to the Long Way Down--her preferred haunt in town over the hipster-sh In Vino Veritas--to escape her charge for the night, not to be annoyed by him, the man baby. And like a toddler, he'd followed her, not allowing her to get a moments peace. At least he didn't follow her into the bathroom like a child might. Thank goodness for small favors.
"Why aren't you working?" She hissed, though she couldn't imagine Veritas was pulling many customers at the moment, considering nearly everyone in town seemed to be here--hell, she'd seen the owner floating around here somewhere dressed very much down from how she was used to seeing him--but she still glared at him over the rim of her glass and the bright orange liquid inside. "Eavesdropping? What a ridiculous insinuation. If anyone's eavesdropping it's you eavesdropping on my nice time."
