Tanning lotion made an appearance at least a few times a month Most of the time people think that they've accidentally given themselves cancer because it doesn't come out looking like the finely tanned people on television or in the movies. Lucas always sighs first and then gently explains to them that they're fine and that they do not have cancer. Some people want tests done, to be sure, which is fair. Cancer is scary and one never knows.
Lucas knows, however. Somehow. His ability give him this weird sixth sense. Or, its more like a metal detector except instead of metal, it picks sickness. He's tried reading several books but there isn't much out there that can tell him anything about his ability. Probably, he's just in the wrong library. Is there a super secret magic library somewhere that he hasn't found?
Or did God really give him this gift and then forget to throw in the manual with it?
Lucas doesn't say anything at first as Runes rambles on. Once permission was given, he reached out and touched the dark spot gently. There was no raised skin and the coloration in the area around it was starting to yellow but it blended easily into the man's pale colored skin. "Dr Piper." He answered at the end of Runes long and weirdly comical rant. WebMD, huh? He padded the area around the bruise, clicking his tongue. Gently again, he moved his hand over the skin and then touched the nearby area. He pressed and touched and tested, see if perhaps there were any soreness or lack of movements in the joints or bones or muscle.
But it was all fine.
Plus, that useful sixth sense of his was pretty adamant about there not being anything wrong. Other than that bruise that was going to start turn green in a few days. "I think you ought to have some words with that table. I promise, no Leukemia. Just a bruise and it'l just look worse and worse until it starts clearing up." He pushed the stool back and picked up the file he'd set on the counter. "Blood tests are unnecessary but I can see how well your heart and lungs are doing if you like."
He did raise an eyebrow at the mention of a prostate check. "Maybe we save that for a rainy day. It looks like you had one a few weeks ago with a Dr. O'Neil. And he- oh." The personal notes left by that doctor were not flattering and Lucas quickly shut the file. He'd have to find some white-out. "Well, he passed you on a clean bill of health." Clearing his throat, Lucas grinned and set the file back on the counter.
"Alright then. Pants up. Go ahead and take a seat and I'll have you up and ready and home to clean up that mess of yours." Lucas pulled out his stethoscope and settled the buds in his ear. "Open your shirt, please. Or lift it for me." And to make sure this wasn't awkward hospital talk, he added some chitter chatter. "And where is it that you work that has tables that attack you?"
