Rasmus may have refrained from rolling his eyes but Jayati did not, giving him an exasperated sigh and narrowed eyes. "I don't think those sorts of things are tantamount here, do you?" It was almost a rhetorical question, except she changed her mind halfway. After all, he knew this place better than she did. Though Jayati was willing to bet that she had lived among other species and groups more than her.
Jayati had been restless, bouncing between destruction and her strong tendency protective tendencies. It had left her feeling out of sorts, and Jayati, apparently, didn't handle not having a structure well. She needed something to tie her life to and keep her steady. From wavering and giving into her wayward vices.
Rasmus was...A spanner in the works, so to speak. But she wasn't going to let it deter her. Jayati had a way of digging her teeth into things and ideas, refusing to let go even when she should. This time it was Summerview, that had caught her eyes and wouldn't let them drift anywhere else.
It wouldn't be the first time that she had lived in close proximity to another dragon. It was always under specific circumstances, not something they fell into casually and let it continue. Jayati had picked up some intermittent, erratic jobs after Lalita died, the kind that often attracted personalities like her own. Not to mention Lalita dragging her into all kinds of places regardless of normal societal politeness and territory lines.
A thought suddenly occurred to her, one of her fingers tapping on her jawline in an erratic rhythm. Pausing to trace the line of her scar on the right side of her jaw as she watched him. "You smoke up here. Are you worried I'll be mad if you light up something 'illegal'?" Curious, and a bit amused, at the image, even if it had thrown her off her current train of thought.
"I won't involve you into anything you don't want to be." Jayati assured hin, finding her hand reaching out for the bottle again to take a drink. It wasn't something she often did , drink around anyone she didn't trust. But the bottle, and her fondness for it was winning her over.
She considered the rest of his answer before nodding, "Neither am I." Not at this juncture at least. Jayati knew the merits of a weyr, unlike him, but she was taking her time before trying for another. Time, as in, not in the foreseeable future. Like Penelope with her mourning veil.
It seemed odd to her. That he was making no claim to the land as his. For someone who was trying to get away from things, who valued privacy and had the same territorial instincts that they all did. Jayati, as a rule, did not like deceptive people. It put her at odds with many of the other magical races, and if anything it had gotten worse with age. "I will stay out of your way, as long as you pose no threat." No one could accuse her of playing in a grey area, she made it clear what she was about.
