Rasmus had just started the last film for the evening, which meant he had nothing to do until the movies ended and he could close up the projection booth. Normally he'd sit around and watch one of the films, but he'd already seen them all. Rush Hour, Elizabeth, and Urban Legends. Normally he wasn't one for comedies, but he had to admit that Jackie Chan was growing on him. There were rumors that there would be a sequel (thanks to the opening weekend success of the movie) and as much as Rasmus normally despised sequels, he hoped they did make one. But just one. Trilogies were so overrated. Seriously, they should have just let Star Wars die after Episode V.
He sensed something on his way up to the roof of the theatre. First it was a smell, familiar yet foreign. It caused the hairs on the back of his neck to stand on end; his natural instincts warning him of a possible danger. When he stepped out onto the roof, looking perfectly paid-by-the-hour in his black slacks and red and white striped collared shirt (reminiscent of a popcorn bag) that his boss forced him to wear (even though none of the customers ever saw him,) he knew exactly what was out there waiting for him. Kin and kind. But not exactly family.
Another dragon.
Rasmus narrowed his eyes. Suspicion was always a good quality to have, especially for a dragon. They didn't exactly have a good history with the other species, let alone their own kind. Maybe because they were big and boisterous and had the tendency towards claiming random plots of land (and sky) as their own. Not that Rasmus considered Summerview his. Well, he had been there first, so by right he had a certain claim to it. But that wasn't exactly something that he advertised. He just wanted to be left alone.
But she seemed calm. That was a good sign, right?
Rasmus glanced around (paranoia as self preservation,) half expecting another dragon to step out of the shadows. When no one else revealed themselves, he continued to cross the roof to the table. Then he took an obvious sniff at the air. Because he wanted to know what type she was. But before he could comment on that aspect of her he caught a glimpse of the items on the table.
