There was a brief moment when Oliver was actually taken aback by how… forward she was. He was not used to someone who was not a pixie (which he knew she was not) more or less inserting herself into another’s space like that. For him? That was not weird. His family had a distinct lack of understanding when it came to personal space. It has been the cause of concern for some of the people brought home by the siblings more than the fact that the house was a maze and tended to change layout when they got bored. More than a few times, they walked in on activities to ask a question without batting an eye at what they experienced. He had a feeling she was not quite that bad, but it was still shocking.
All the same, he grinned up and her and shook his head. “You do not insult the mistress of this fine establishment with ordering crisps.” He voice was pitched in a way that made him seem as though Lexie had done a terrible thing by glancing over the menu he knew by heart and picking something that looked familiar and common. All the same, his lips were quirked upward just enough to betray his tone with humor. “If you like some good comfort food, this here is your spot. I, for one, am getting a pasty and mash.” He pointed at the beef dish in question and smirked. “You want just a bite to stuff your gob up, the poppers are good.”
He looked up and locked eyes with the bartender. His green eyes glittered in the light just enough to pull their attention toward him with a hint of his persuasion. He ordered his both the poppers and his meal. If she wanted to have some, she was more than welcome to it. And he made that obvious by asking for two plates and sliding one in front of his new friend. With that he locked eyes with Lexie and slammed back the moonshine shot without a flinch and slid it back to the bar mats. “And to answer your first question, love, I am a bar manager at the establishment my siblings and I run. How about yourself? New here? Getting a lay of the land or seeing what spots are popular here?” His mouth twitched as he was able to at least glance that much without probing much farther into what she was feeling.
