Just breathe and relax
It was just another day at the Spa and so far Cameron hadn't been lacking in clients which was definitely a relief as it could be hard at times to break in a new town and new set of clients especially if they were used to seeing somebody else. He was halfway through his day when he checked the next appointment on his nearby PC to find that his next appointment had arrived.
A quick check of his room and he was happy with the preparations he had made including cleaning down his table and putting down fresh towels and making sure he had enough cream to make sure he didn't run out. Cameron stepped out of his room and headed through to where he assumed his next client was waiting. "Luke King?" Luke jumped when someone said his name, having buried his face in the magazine he'd been staring at - but not reading because he'd been too nervous to actually focus on the pages - and mentally cursing out Gabe and Koa who (high on exhaustion, he was pretty sure) had decided to call the spa and make him an appointment for a massage because - and he quoted You're too tense, bro, it'll be good for you. Because that was easy for them to say, they weren't the ones who would have a stranger's hands on their backs. It stuck him that they probably wouldn't care if they had a stranger's hands all over them and they'd probably get off on this kind of thing since they were all up in the random stranger sex thing. He glanced up and felt the colour drain from his face. He'd hoped that the masseuse would be a girl, Nissa even, but no. No the masseuse had to be the hot new guy that had introduced himself on the network. He shot off a quick text to Gabe, thumbing it fast: You fucking asshole you did this on purpose before getting to his feet, nearly dropping the magazine as he did before he put it down on the seat he'd just vacated. "Uh- y-yeah, that- that's me." Cameron offered Luke a smile as he gestured for him to follow him into the room where he grabbed his seat and gestured for Luke to do the same. "So, I'm Cameron and as you've guessed I'll be your massage therapist today." He dug out a new client record and picked up a nearby pen as he flipped it over to what looked like a picture of a blank human body. "So, tell me, what areas are you struggling with or would like me to focus on?" Luke's shoulders were pretty much around his ears by the time he followed Cameron into the room. This was going to be horrible and he just knew it. Any part of his body that might not have been tense was probably now tenser than it had any right to be from the sheer discomfort of knowing just how much of a mess he was going to make of this. He was busy cursing Gabe out - again - in his head when he realised that Cameron was speaking to him and, to his eternal shame because he hadn't been looking he hadn't actually heard what was being said to him. Yeah, the implant was good and all but Luke still had to lip-read like, 80% of the time. "Sorry, what?" Cameron waited a beat when he soaked in the fact his new client hadn’t heard a word he’d just said. Deep breath. “I just told you that my name is Cameron and I’ll be your massage therapist. I was also looking to get an understanding of what areas of your body you were struggling with and if you wanted me to focus on anything in particular.” Luke, now he was looking at the guy, saw him take a deep breath. He swallowed and turned his head to the left, moving his hair a little. “I’m deaf, so I might need you to repeat things every now and then, sorry. Like... when I’m face down on a table and-“ oh, yeah, he’d been asked a question. He offered a small smile, “What is... everything hurts and I’m dying?” Ahhh. That made a lot more sense. Cameron made a note against Luke’s file so he didn’t forget that for the next time he saw him if Luke came back that was. Massage wasn’t for everybody, Cameron didn’t take it personally. He offered a warm smile. “That sounds like you could do with a full massage.” He placed his notes to one side and rose to his feet, picking up a newly cleaned towel that honestly smelt divine and offered it to Luke. “So what I’ll need you to do is take off your clothes, strip all the way down to your underwear then lie face down on the bed with the towel wherever you feel most comfortable.” Generally people put it over their ass. Luke’s eyes widened almost comically at the realisation that yes, yes he would have to strip down and fuck his life in front of a hot guy?. If Gabe, Koa or Mickey were here they would definitely be laughing at him. Or Mickey might be offering to stick around and make sure Luke didn’t babble himself into mortal embarrassment while making fun of him. He nodded, waiting for Cameron to leave the room before he just did as he was told. Boots off, socks off, jeans and jacket and t-shirt off. Left in his boxer-briefs, Luke picked up the towel and held it like a cape over his shoulders and then got onto the bed, positioning it so that he was pretty much wholly covered by the towel. Then he put his face in the, uh, face hole thing and waited. Cameron was stood elsewhere as he waited for Luke to get comfortable and when he was certain enough time had passed he let himself back into the room but then stopped dead at how Luke had chosen to lay the towel. Well... that definitely defeated the purpose. Cameron approached and reached for the edges of the towel. “I’m just going to pull this down okay? I need to be able to get to your skin.” And with that prepositioned he folded the towel down to actually rest near the small of Luke’s back. Luke's fingers twitched and flexed as the towel was moved down, shoulders lifting again. He'd really thought that it might have been able to be an over-the-clothes thing. He took a deep breath and nodded, though it was kind of hard with the face hole thing. He wet his lower lip and said, "Uh- yeah- I- I know that." Relax, King, jesus fucking Christ. Cameron could tell Luke was uncomfortable but he wasn’t the first client that wasn’t as relaxed as they could be with a massage. “So, I’m going to start on your feet and your legs and if at anytime I press too hard or it’s too painful just let me know.” Cameron stepped away to first clean his hands down with antibacterial handgel before he reached for the lotion he used. It was a white cream but one that smelled of lemons and vanilla with a distinct aromatherapy aspect to it which helped to encourage circulation and relaxation. As he ran hot it didn’t take long for the lotion to melt into a clear gel which he then began using to rub his thumbs along the full expanse of both of Luke’s feet, digits working in confident methodical circles and strokes with just the right amount of pressure. Luke had lifted his head to turn and watch Cameron moving, worrying that the lotion would be cold - lotion was always cold - so he was pleasantly surprised when actually it was warm. Warm against his skin, along with warm hands which was instantly a little more relaxing. Though, as the guy worked on his feet, Luke's fingers flexed again because his feet were pretty sensitive in a ticklish sort of way and though it did kind of tickle it also felt nice and he was so very glad that he'd taken a shower that morning. Holy crap. He was quiet right up until Cameron's fingers dug into the muscles at the top of his calf on his left leg when he hissed, reflexively tensing at the knots that jumped underneath Cameron's thumbs. Cameron arched an eyebrow when Luke reacted both with a hiss and an involuntarily muscle spasm. “Definitely carrying a lot of tension up here.” He smoothed the pads of his thumbs over the knots in question, even going so far as to catch one between thumb and index finger where he just applied pressure until he felt the muscle relax. This action was repeated a couple more times before the flat expanse of both palms ran along the inside and outside of the calves lightly kneading and trying to get rid of the worst of it. Luke tucked his hands underneath his head and curled his fingers in towards his palms, resisting the urge to pull his leg away from Cameron's fingers. He knew that it hurt because it needed to be unknotted, and the guy's hands being warm was a nice addition but honestly it hurt quite a bit. He stayed still, to his credit, right up until Cameron's hands moved up his thighs and Luke went rigid again. "Can- uh- can we skip the thigh area? Pretty sure I- I mean, I'm pretty sure the tension's all in my back and stuff anyway." Cameron ceased his movements as the last thing he wanted to do as a massage therapist was to make his client uncomfortable and if he didn't want his thighs done then he'd skip right over them. "Alright, if you're sure." He pulled his hands away from Luke's thighs and reached back to replenish the cream before his attentions turned to Luke's lower back, applying pressure and just letting his fingers and the warmth of his skin do the work. Luke hummed a little, shifting so his arms were resting beside him on the bed and his face comfortably on the paper-covered cushion on the face hole. When Cameron's fingers hit tender spots, he couldn't help how his breath hitched, and he wanted so badly to just start babbling to break what he felt was awkward silence - though it likely wasn't - but he held it back. He didn't want to embarrass himself too much, after all. Cameron tended to let his client control and dictate what happened in the way of talking or not talking. Some people like a conversation whereas others just wanted to be left alone to their thoughts. All the while he was feeling how Luke’s body was reacting to his touch and also listening out for small vocal tells that would help him figure out if he was in the right place He’d heard the hitching of the other man’s breath and paid particular attention to the places that had caused it until sure enough he’d worked all the knots out. Luke shifted on the bed to get more comfortable, beginning to feel a little drowsy even before he found his voice, hoping Cameron would remember to speak up, since there was no way Luke would be able to watch his lips. “How- uh- I mean, awkward first time client conversation but how long you been doing this? “ “Roughly ten or eleven years,” Cameron replied and he did remember to speak up so Luke could hear him. “But saying that aloud makes me feel super old.” He chuckled and the flat expanse of his hands ran up Luke’s spine while thumbs massaged in their wake. “But you look like you’re twenty, how is that even possible?” Luke asked, flabbergasted. He lifted his head even though he shouldn’t have to squint at Cameron. “So you’re not human? Dragon or something?” Cameron smiled. “I think you just became my favourite client.” He glanced over at Luke while his hands kept working his fingers and thumbs in circles, pressing down and catching on tense muscle. “I am actually human.” Luke lay back down with a grumbled, “it’ll be nice to be someone’s favourite” because all of his friends were assholes, before he hummed again in consideration. “But not just human, right? Witch? Or Gifted?” His hands were pretty warm. Warmer than they had any right to be. “Ding ding, we have a winner.” Cameron’s hands now passed over Luke’s shoulders and paid particular attention to the right bunched up muscles he could feel. “Gifted or thats what I hear.” That term was still very new to him and he’d only found it out when he’d spoken to his mother’s friend. “Man so you got the cool types of - ow, shit, dude - powers then. So unfair.” Cameron’s eyebrows twitched as Luke uttered ow and then let his thumbs do the rest of the work. Thankfully Cameron had very strong hands so there was no cramping as it did feel like Luke had years worth of tension pent up. “I guess you could say that. Not sure my folks would agree what with me setting fire to the curtains by accident.” He paused though his hands didn’t, they ran up Luke’s neck. “Guessing by your commentary that you aren’t the gifted kind of human?” Luke had a hundred lifetimes of tension built up in his muscles which shouldn't have been possible, and yet here they were. Honestly. He created stressful situations for a living, it felt like, so the tension just racked on up. He was never really comfortable enough to let anyone try and get rid of it for him in a less formal setting, because he was a disaster. "Yeah," he agreed, "I mean, there's nothing wrong with the odd accidental fire. So you're a pyrokinetic? That's so cool." It did strike him as weird, though, that Cameron's parents hadn't also been Gifted. He thought that kind of thing ran directly in families. "I'm not the gifted kind of human, no. I mean, I am and I'm not. Even on the non-gifted, not-totally-human scale I got a shitty deal." “Yeah, that’s exactly what I am.” Cameron didn’t offer up the fact that the folks he referred to were adoptive because they’d still raised him. “Really?” He asked, curiosity getting the better of him. Hands now smoothed over Luke’s right shoulder before they worked down his arm. "Man, that's so awesome. I'd love to be able to sorta Johnny Storm my way out of a situation. Oo- that feels nice." And it did, tension in his shoulder and upper arm being chased away by warm hands? Yeah, that felt pretty good. He was sure once Cameron started poking down at the deeper tissue it would hurt, but he was gonna take what he could. He sighed, "Uh, yeah. I'm a witch. So not quite a gifted human but y'know, also kind of? Most get affiliated with an element." “That’s good.” Cameron didn’t go out of his way to hurt his clients but sometimes that was an unpleasant side effect of getting rid of tension. “And you didn’t?” He asked, thumbs and fingers rounding on Luke’s forearm. “Nope, not me. I got...uh, death magic. Which isn’t as fun as it sounds.” Not when you factored in the whole seeing dead people and ability to suck the life out of things. Cameron’s movements ceased for a moment as Luke confessed to having death magic. That was pretty crazy and if he didn’t know what he knew now then he might think the other was a couple bricks short of a full house. “I gotta tell you, Luke, it does not sound fun. Like at all.” “That’s one way of putting it,” Luke replied dryly. “There’s a fair few here that have water as their element with is cool. Everyone’s gonna be jealous about you and your firebending powers though.” Cameron picked up where he’d left off and now ran his fingers over Luke’s palm, letting his thumbs work in circles around some knots that surprisingly could exist in your hands. “Firebending?” "Well, yeah, if you're a pyrokinetic you can control fire, right? You said you set fire to the curtains. So.. firebending. I mean-" Luke cut himself off, pressing his face harder into the face-hole thing. "Never mind. You don't look like the type to have watched cartoons." Wait. It was staring to ring bells. “Avatar, right?” And he might not look it but he had definitely watched cartoons. Cameron’s hands moved back up Luke’s arm. Luke lifted his head again, looking surprised and then very pleased, "Yeah, yeah that's the one." He grinned, "Pretty good cartoon for a kid's show. The sequel was definitely more pitched at adults." Okay cool he’d gotten the right reference. That was good. He hadn’t seen it in years though which might explain why he struggled initially. “Okay so head massage, yes? No?” Luke paused, frowning a little and shifting. "Sure, I mean- uh, I'll have to take off my..." he waved his hand, at the battery pack and processor that made up the outer part of his impant. "I'll have to take that off and won't be able to hear you until you're done. That okay?" "Oh yeah sure," Cameron readily agreed with a nod of his head. "If you're comfortable with that. I mean if you'd rather not then that's okay too." He was getting the distinct feel that this was Luke's first massage and he would really rather not put him off. "Well, I mean I stopped you going for the thighs," Luke pointed out dryly, "gotta make up for that somehow. Just- as soon as I take this off I'll be totally deaf." He chuckled and moved to sit up, "You got somewhere I can put this?" Cameron nodded as he reached over for the nearby tray on wheels that held the supplies used during the massage. "Alright so squeeze my forearm once if I'm hurting you and twice if you need me to press a little harder." Luke wrinkled his nose and then nodded, "Am I gonna be sitting up?" he asked, thinking he would probably feel a bit more comfortable if he was. "Also, uh, this bit-" his fingers pressed underneath the back of his skull, "is pretty sore. So go ham on that bit." After another second, Luke took a breath and lifted his hand to carefully remove the outer part of his implant. As soon as he disconnected it, he felt the world muffle and go silent once more, a cloying silence that didn't creep up the same way it did when the battery died, just swamped over. He leaned forward and put everything down carefully before looking up at Cameron and smiling. He lifted his hand and gave the guy a thumbs up. Cameron returned Luke's smile with one of his own, soft and reassuring. He'd taken note of where Luke had said was sore and would definitely give that his most attention, hopefully ease the pain as much as he could. He did let Luke sit up because it was clear that he was most comfortable and sunk his fingers into the other''s hair, letting his fingers and thumbs slip out and work over the full expanse of the Luke's scalp before he focused his attention on the part Luke had indicated. At one point his fingers had brushed over what felt like an implant under the skin but he hadn't lingered long, not wanting to make Luke uncomfortable. Luke hummed, holding his breath only when Cameron's fingers swept over the implant more because he was anxious about how the other guy would react more than anything else, but Cameron was a consumate professional and didn't seem to flinch - or he might have done but Luke couldn't see his face so he was going to just pretend that he didn't and try and be done with fretting. Of course he wasn't done with fretting. But the way Cameron's fingers pushed through his hair felt good and Luke's eyes drifted shut, hissing only when Cameron's fingers brushed against the tense muscles at the base of his skull but he lifted his hands in a thumbs up for the guy to keep going. Cameron waited for the thumbs up from Luke before he continued working at that very tense area right at the base of Luke’s skull and when he received it he turned all of his attention to catching and resolving the knots he could feel. He was stubborn and there was no way he was going to let some tension beat him not when it was his job to get rid of it. Luke was quiet, eyes closed and breathing in slowly through his nose and out through his mouth, enjoying the pain - in a weird way and he knew Gabe would tease him for that later if he told him. By the time Cameron was finished, Luke genuinely felt boneless, and a little light-headed. And very much like that had been worth all the anxiety that had rippled through him before he had actually come in. |
