A smile slowly crept onto Dae's face at Parthenope's earnest enthusiasm. The twins had always been kindhearted and Dae had enjoyed the time she'd spent with them, especially Peisinoê of course, but it was just one of those things that had to end for the sake of Dae's pod.
Approaching the other mermaid, Dae eyed the fire warily. Parthenope may not remember, Dae thought, having been on the surface for a time, but being so close to such an open flame was a bit unnerving for Dae. Especially as her skin was still wet and her hair was dripping from her natural aquatic habitat.
However, Dae didn't want to draw attention to her unease. She was a warrior in her clan. A leader. And if Parthenope could sit next to the open flame, so could she.
Approaching with more determination if not confidence, Dae settled onto the sand beside Parthenope and bent her knees to hug her human shaped legs to her chest. "It's good to see you, too, Parthenope." It was strange talking to another mermaid in English, but since Parthenope had started that way, Dae continued. "I've been here only a couple of days. My mother sent me."
