Good Days Are Ahead
There was once a time when Gabe was in and out of Roman’s house like it was his own as between him and Luke there was no hope especially when both were close with Koa. Now it was a little more complicated but after a dawning realisation on the part of Roman he was finally able to pass to and from easily again.
Apparently Koa was upstairs, still asleep, which caused Gabe to arch his eyebrow because it wasn’t late late but it certainly wasn’t early either. Rather than knocking as from here Gabe could tell Koa did not have any other company aside from furry ones he let himself in and promptly sat on the bed beside the lump under the covers. “Rise and shine, Koa,” He crooned softly. “Wasting the day away.” Koa groaned unhappily from underneath the pillows, tucking his foot back under the sheets from where he'd stuck it out. His arm appeared, waving his fingers dismissively before it retreated and the lump of Koa under the sheets just wriggled a little. "Mmnnuurgh-no." "Seriously, man, you're way too old for being this lazy," Gabe remarked with a laugh as he clasped his hands on either side of cover clad Koa's arm and shook roughly. Koa must have either had a really late night or just a very fun one. Neither, Koa just had a lot of sleep to catch up on. Travelling from place to place through hitch-hiking and sleeping wherever he could lay his head took a toll on a dude. And now he was home and safe and usually surrounded by dogs, he was indulging in something he enjoyed the most; sleeping. "I am not, asshole," Koa responded gumpily. His finger curled in the pillow above his head and he threw it in Gabe's direction with remarkable accuracy before he pushed himself up, sleep-fogged brain meaning that his filter wasn't as... in place as normal, "and when the fuck did you start hanging around with vampires, man? Their smell's all over you." Gabe gave a small "oof" sound as the pillow landed against his chest with distinct accuracy before he simply curled his fingers around it as Koa asked the question he had been expecting but also dreading in equal measure. "Yeah, about that," Gabe began. "You sleep with one?" Koa asked, sitting back on his haunches before he pushed his hair out of his face, the lengths slightly tangled and knotted as he shoved them over his shoulder and reached around the edge of his bed to pull out his hairbrush. Barely smothering a yawn, he fingercombed his hair and wriggled so he was sat on the edge of the bed, squinting up at Gabe. "Fuck dude, I've never slept with a vampire before. Good lay?" Koa's hair as it was right now was one of the many reasons Gabe never let his hair get too long, he couldn't be doing with all the hassle of it. Of course you could also say that about dyeing it blonde but hey each to their own. "I don't know, you'd have to ask the people I've slept with." Koa's fingers fumbled on the hair brush and he pushed the dark curtain away from his face to stare properly at Gabe. Then, in a flash, he was up on his feet, arms around Gabe's shoulders and face buried in his neck. The smell of vampire, generally, wasn't massively appealing but underneath it all he could still smell Gabe, so he knew the guy wasn't totally lost. "Shit, man," he muttered against Gabe's neck, "I- fuck, I'm sorry." Gabe had almost forgotten how affectionate Koa was because honestly it had been a long time and with everything that had happened in the last two years it was too easy to forget things about the people in your life. He hadn't even realised how badly he needed a hug until Luke had done it and now Koa, the friends he'd grown up with and the friends he hadn't realised were so vital to his feeling... centered. Gabe wrapped his own arms around Koa and swallowed hard, fighting back a sudden flood of emotion because well he wasn't the same and he never would be. Gabe's hand came up and squeezed the back of Koa's neck. "It's okay, better this than dead." "Honestly, man," Koa mumbled with a weak laugh, "I always thought you'd be a wolf eventually." He leaned back and nudged Gabe's nose with his own, an old habit that he'd never truly been able to break, some... carry over from the fact that he'd been a wolf for almost as long as he'd been alive he had a fair few unique traits that he didn't know if they were exhibited in other wolves since he'd never really asked and hadn't mingled all that much with them. "I'm sensing a story but also I need food and soda before you tell me your tragic tale and I gotta brush my fucking hair 'cause my tie fell out overnight." Gabe smiled at the nose nudging and lightly scratched the back of Koa's head while threading his hair through his fingers affectionately. "Yeah, but I gotta admit this look kinda suits you," he offered with a grin. Koa tipped his head back into the scritch, his eyes closing a little as he hummed happily at the affection. "What look?" he asked, "Just woken up?" A snort escaped the vampire as he shook his head, noticing how Koa wasn't exactly objecting to the hand in his hair and the ensuing scritches so he readily kept it up. "I was leaning more towards the recently fucked with hands in my hair look but just woken up could work." He winked and then tipped his head. "I'll head downstairs so you can get dressed." Koa growled a little at the threat of heading downstairs, catching Gabe's wrist before it left his hair. "You can stick around, it's not like I'm gonna get any more naked. Well, I mean, I will but it's not like you've not seen my ass before." He nudged Gabe's nose again before he released his wrist and stepped away, dragging his hair over his shoulder and starting to push the brush thorugh it. As he turned around the large scarring was visible on his back, faded and stretched but still present. "That is true," Gabe agreed with a chuckle, letting his hand tighten for a brief moment until Koa pulled away to start brushing his hair and the vampire shifted to press his back into the wall, long legs crossing over at the ankle. He linked his fingers together and rested them on his stomach as he waited. "You can sit on the bed if you want," Koa pointed out, swearing as the brush caught on a few stubborn knots, swiftly changing out of his boxers and into a clean pair and his jeans, unbuttoned and unbelted but at least he was half dressed before he picked up the crusade of detangling his hair again. "And, it's been a fair while since I got to do the whole... just fucked thing." Gabe arched his eyebrows in surprise. "Seriously? You?" He hadn't had sex in two or so years but mostly due to his being turned into a vampire and being super afraid that he might vamp out and hurt somebody. He wiggled his fingers. "Give me the brush, I'll help you out." "Yeah, me," Koa turned his head to look at the incredulous look on Gabe's face with a snort. "Don't look so surprised. I've been, y'know, travelling and shit." He looked a little sheepish, and also hopeful, approaching and handing the brush over. "You sure?" "Pretty sure part of travelling around the world is enjoying random sex with a lot of different people." A roll of his eyes accompanied the sheepish look on Koa's face. "Wouldn't have offered if I hadn't meant it." He leaned forward and took the hairbrush from Koa, fingers wiggling to get the wolf to sit down. "I- Dude, I- I did a bit of random sex but y'know- I just..." he shrugged his shoulders, bashful as he settled down on the bed, legs crossed and he curled his hands around his ankles. "I dunno, it was weird." Gabe shifted forward as he settled behind Koa, one hand lifting to catch and separate a section of his hair before he applied the bristles of the brush to the more... persistent knots. The hand that was caught in the hair tightened and did so with the intention of avoiding any pain. "Weird? Is this a wolf thing?" "Maybe? I just kinda... y'know, got bored?" He rubbed his hand over his eyes and leaned backwards into the brush going through his hair, eyes closed and humming. "Bored?" Gabe repeated. "I wouldn't think sleeping with different people would get boring." He always figured it would be the other way around as in sleeping with one person over and over would get boring really fast but then he'd never been in any kind of relationship so he had no reference point. He tipped his head and finger combed a couple tangles, finishing off the unknotting process with the brush. "I guess it was just the whole... nameless, faceless thing that I got tired of?" Koa said with a shrug of his shoulders. "I can't really explain it, I just... lost interest? I mean, not in the act itself because fuck if I'm not horny as shit, but like- y'know, sleeping with strangers just got tedious." He shrugged again and then leaned back, not even hissing really as Gabe's fingers untangled his hair, flexing his fingers around his ankles where he was sat, waiting patiently for the vampire - jeez, that was a weird descriptive term to use for Gabe - to finish with his hair so he could stick it back. Gabe lifted his eyebrows when Koa said what he said, giving an affirming sound when Koa mentioned being horny. "Oh, I can relate. Pretty sure my balls are so blue they'd give the ocean a run for its money." He got out a few more persistent knots before finally being able to run the brush through the rest of the strands of dark hair. Koa snorted. "There's no shortage of people that'll sleep with you here," he pointed out. "So you just gotta... go forth and fuck." He hummed a little, enjoying the feeling of the brush moving through his hair, though when he felt that it was moving smoothly, he cleared his throat and got to his feet to snag a tie and stick his long hair back in a low ponytail, twisting it up then into a messy bun. "I should put a shirt on." Gabe slumped back to rest his weight on the palms of both hands as he tipped to watch Koa. "Yeah, shirt, you should do that." He smirked, obviously not overly serious about the shirt. "But you are right, there are a lot of people on this island but I'm still kinda unsure how it all works now that I'm uh-" Gabe gestured towards his mouth, "fangy." He shrugged. "Two years give or take is a long ass time not to get laid." "If we're gonna leave, I gotta get dressed," Koa pointed out with a raised eyebrow, "'cause as comfortable as I am with my scars not everyone else is the same." He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. Pausing, Koa huffed out a breath and folded his arms over his chest. "So you fuck a supernatural that can handle it. Stay away from humans so that if you fang out you don't hurt them. And there's always the option of just picking somoene you don't know, or who didn't know... human you." He nodded, "Yeah, two years is a long time. You better just sort that shit." "So that rules out a couple people on this island," Gabe muttered with a twitch of his eyebrow before he leaned over the edge of the bed and fished a t-shirt off the ground, tossing it towards Koa as he seemed so eager to leave. He snorted and clasped the edges of the bed to get to his feet. "You don't have to tell me that." Catching the t-shirt and applying the tried and true sniff test, Koa pulled it on over his head and then freed his hair. Sometimes he thought about getting it all cut off but then... curls. Ugh. "There's way more supers here than there are humans, and no shortage of people that'd fuck you. I mean," he gestured dramatically, "look at you. More than that, I mean there's incubi and succubi floating around now." Gabe ran his hands through his hair and clasped the back of his neck where his grip tightened. "I'm pretty sure as a vampire I'm not a great snack for either an Incubus or a Succubus." He then tipped his head and arched an eyebrow at Koa. "Wait, did you just compliment me?" "Don't let it get to your head," Koa threw back at the arched eyebrow accompanied quip. "Besides, I don't think incubi or succubi always need to feed. They just sometimes enjoy a good fuck." "I mean who doesn't?" Gabe returned with a grin as his arms folded over his chest. Koa snorted. "True facts. So are we getting outta here or what?" "Yeah, yeah," Gabe drawled as he stepped forward to loop his arm around Koa's neck. "We are. I'm thinking we ditch Summerview tonight and hit up Atlantic city." He tipped his head to look at Koa with a grin. "You in?" Koa nodded, "Yeah, yeah. Let's get outta here, sun's gone down, right? I napped most of the afternoon away like a loser so I could do with getting out of here for a bit. Not left since I got back. I mean, that's- largely 'cause dad wouldn't let me out of his sight." Gabe pulled Koa in the direction of the door. "Well, he loves you and he's always been a protective papa bear." He grinned a moment later. "But I think he'll ease up now that you've settled back in and your old friends are around." "And I'm no longer bleeding constantly from the leg," Koa added, settling underneath Gabe's arm, wrapping his own around his waist. "But that's a story for another time. C'mon." They headed down the stairs and he lifted his voice to hollar, "I'm goin' to AC with Gabe, dad, I'll be home before sunrise! Love you!" |
