How Long Has It Been?
Honestly Summerview was the last place Noah had expected to find Lily but she usually had a plan so he figured that there must be more to it than a small rinky dink island filled with supernaturals. It was a "sanctuary city" whatever the fuck that meant. In his mind it was just another place for people to hide out and pretend like the rest of the world didn't hate them and didn't want them all dead.
He'd never been good at walking away from a fight and stepping off the bridge and into Summerview felt an awful lot like that. Hopefully Lily could shed some light on this... interesting choice of location. He hadn't told her that he'd be arriving today as there was something to be said for surprises especially when he knew where she was staying. Noah moved through the town with the confidence of somebody who had grown up there which meant his face might be new but he walked with the right amount of certainty that after a small period of curiosity people looked away and left him to his own devices. It didn't take long for him to round on the house that Lily had acquired and approached, stopping to rap his knuckles on the door before he just waited. Lily hummed to herself as she moved down the hallway. It was morning but she was dressed for company, at least, as she padded barefoot to the door. She hadn't been expecting company, and though Danny knew where she lived he knew better than to turn up unnanounced and she had no plans to meet up with Callum that day either. Nissa was possibly still asleep upstairs but since she wasn't the Fae's keeper she wasn't too fussed as to Nissa's location. So curiosity was getting the better of her as she opened the door, though she felt a knot that had been resting in her stomach immediately loosen when the wood swung open to reveal Noah on the other side. She drew in a breath, feeling her heart leap in relief that he was okay. Of course, she knew he would be; she expected nothing less from him, but it was still a relief. Though it was highly unbecoming to throw herself at him, so she smiled a little, tipped her head and stepped aside. "I wasn't expecting you for a while, you could have called ahead. I'd have made sure there was breakfast available." Though there was a light in her eyes that showed just how pleased she was to see him. She was definitely a sight for sore eyes, one he he felt he hadn't clasped eyes on in the flesh in a very long time. And whilst she hadn't greeted him with a hug Noah could pick up on the way her heartbeat had picked up so he was reassured that she was happy to see him. "I managed to get things taken care of earlier than I expected," he shared as he stepped into the house, hand moving to steady the strap of the bag that contained the limited possessions he'd had with him when he'd set out on his path of vengeance. The bag was set on the floor and Noah curled his arms around Lily, pulling her into a tight embrace before he leaned back with a smile. "So, this town, really?" Lily pushed the door shut behind Noah as he stepped in and as soon as his bag was placed down and he moved for a hug she had anticipated the move, her arms going around his shoulders, one hand twining in the dark curls atop his head as she hugged him tightly. She leaned back as he did and stole a kiss, nudging his nose with hers before rolling her eyes affectionately. "Yes. This town. There's a few key contacts here and, honestly, we all needed somewhere to lick our wounds for a while." She hadn't missed the cut on his temple, she brushed her fingers over it gently, wondering what was hidden underneath his clothes. Noah snorted quietly as Lily insisted that there were key contacts though did frown when she mentioned needed to lick wounds and in that moment he took a much longer much harder look at Lily. It was in that moment he realised that she had a cast on her left arm and he reached for it, curling his fingers around it and then arching his eyebrow at her. "What happened?" Lily huffed. She'd forgotten she'd put that back on overnight. It was cumbersome so she hadn't been wearing it when she was out and about but putting it back on when she got home was a good way of at least supporting an aching limb. "Oh, I got a little overconfident. Ended up on the wrong side of a dragon." She eased her arm out of the brace, taking it off Noah and placing it on the nearby sideboard, presenting her bare skin with the mottled bruises that ran up the inside of her arm. "I haven't healed it yet, but I will now you're back." It had worked to her benefit that she was injured when she saw Danny, and it had worked a treat on Callum, too. Noah shifted a little to bring himself closer to Lily, eyes flashing amber for a moment in a clearly angry response to the fact somebody had hurt Lily so badly. He didn't touch even though he wanted to because the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her even further. "What do you need?" "Ssh," Lily soothed, the fingers of her non-injured hand carding gently through his hair, pulling him close so that their foreheads were touching. "When the time's right, I'll get my revenge. He won't even see it coming." And, of course, Noah would be with her. As would Nissa. And Danny, likely, though whether he would handle the necessary conflict would remain to be seen. "I'm fine, Noah." She nudged his nose with hers, stole a kiss. "I'll heal up once you've had some rest," she promised. "You've travelled far immediately after the full moon, I wouldn't ask that of you right now." Though she knew he'd offer without hesitation, it was one of the many traits that had endeared him to her so strongly. The wolf huffed out a heated breath as Lily's hands were in his hair and she was pulling him close, close enough that he could smell the slight scent of rose. Clearly she was still using the perfume he'd bought for her before he'd gone his separate way. "You've got a broken arm," he pointed out with a distinct look. "That's not fine." He reached up and pushed his hands into her hair before he too stole a kiss, this one slower and more present than the others she'd been giving him. "You gonna join me or do you have stuff to do?" Lily groaned as his fingers sunk into her hair. She couldn't wait to introduce him to Nissa though she was pleased that at least their reunion could be private without any sarcastic, lewd comments being thrown from over her shoulder. "I'm fine, love. Besides, I'll heal myself next time I feed. I have no need for the injuries to stick around anymore." Humming into the kiss she pretended to look thoughtful for a moment before she nodded. "You realise that if I come with you, though, we're not likely to be getting much rest." MJ the MarvellousToday at 21:55 "Mm, you have a point," Noah said with a warm chuckle and distinct smirk. "And then I'd be no good for your healing." Not that it stopped him from leaning in and pressing another kiss to her lips. "So, how about I get some rest and then we can spend a couple hours making you feel really good?" And when he said hours he really did mean hours, he had a lot of stamina. "It won't just be me feeling good," she purred against his lips, nails grazing over his scalp before she withdrew completely, stepping gracefully out of reach. "Go and get some sleep, Noah. I'm not going anywhere and we'll have the house to ourselves for a little while longer before Nissa returns." "Oh, I know," Noah assured her as he watched her with a knowing smile gracing his lips as he watched Lily move away. "What floor?" He asked as he collected up his bag once more and slipped the strao over his shoulder once more. Nissa? Who was Nissa? Supposed he'd find out when Nissa got back. "First floor," she told him, "first door on the left is yours, but if you'd rather sleep in my room, it's the one opposite. Bathroom's down the hall. Nissa's got the upper floor to herself, but I didn't think you'd mind sharing with me." Noah headed in the direction of the stairs. "Well, you were right about that." He flashed a grin that was literally all teeth before he disappeared upstairs. First order of business was to take a shower and then the next was to sleep and recover enough so he would be of use to Lily when she needed him. |
