Not that she wasn't pretty but she reminded Sam way too much of his sisters and he had definitely started looking at her in the same light. This much was evident in how he'd started taking care of her, making sure she ate right and got home safe after her shift was finished. Looking after people just sort of came naturally for Sam, could say it had something to do with his upbringing and the role he'd taken on when he was younger.
He had absolutely no idea that his life had been turned upside down by his closest friend or the resulting years of isolation and destitution that Kanuna had then experienced as a result of the guilt carried with him. Currently he was finishing up in the shower when there was a knock at the door and he hollered, "be right with you," before he hurried into his bedroom to pull on underwear, jeans, and a t-shirt. He didn't bother with his hair so it was probably a mess of dark curling strands that were normally pulled back into a small ponytail at the base of his skull. Barefooted and smelling fresh, clean, and ever so slightly like sandalwood along with a hint of vanilla from the shower gel he closed the distance to open the door.
And then he stopped short as there on the other side of that door was a definite and rather distinct blast from the past. "Kanuna?"
