Called to the devil and the devil did come
It was late. Or, late for Jayati at least. If she was going to be out and about in the morning then it was usually early. In fact, she hadn't slept at all last night, one block of patrol turned into another when someone called in sick to their shift and she wasn't leaving anyone to that alone. Not that she didn't have confidence in her people - though these days she was looking over her shoulder more often than she had in. Well, since moving here probably.
Bree being in the house helped a little bit of noise, a little less echo, just a bit of warmth, helped. Maybe not as much as she had hoped, but enough to get through the day. Dia and Mircea did as well, even if there was a divide between her and Mircea. Figures that one of the few friends she made that was going to be able to stick around - unlike Nuno - would fall so starkly on the opposite of an ethical divide. As much as she enjoyed dinner with him, it was a very real possibility she was going to have to roast him at some point in the future. He said she needed a hobby, a distraction, a destressor, but she had far too many expectations for that. So it really wasn't that much of a surprise that she had opted to just...stay awake, run some errands, stop at the diner for breakfast. The sight of her was a familiar enough sight in the Diner that no one blinked twice at her eating alone or with a notebook out where she wrote down ideas to bring to the council regarding the Malcontents, and a separate sheet to compare notes with Greg. He was growing on her at least. She was expecting a refill on her...Third? Probably more, cup of coffee, when she heard steps pause at her table, but she looked up to see someone who was definitely not one of the Waitresses. Or familiar, at all. |
