Here we sit
Weekends tended to be erratic at The Long Way Down. Those who were looking for a real wild time and actually had the sort of schedule that meant they had to wait until the weekend often went into Atlantic City for the larger clubs and bars there. This Sunday they had a few hours of dead time, which had it's pros and cons.
It did still mean they had to have someone out front. Which meant with Elena needing to leave quick to take care of her kid, someone had to be there, and instead of calling in one of her normal coworkers, she called in the owner. Maeve didn't protest, and managed to arrive about ten minutes before she said she was going to be there, sweeping into the place in hastily pulled on jeans and an oversized sweatshirt advertising a Tequila primarily sold south of the border for a reason. "Go, sweetness, I got this." And Elea was gone, leaving her freshly showered boss behind who was actually more than happy to abandon her laundry and such, truthfully. Maeve's blue eyes turned from the board of Valentines day shots to the sole woman at the bar, a smile stretching across her features, "And how are you doing, beautiful?" She hadn't seen Parker since, well, Briar had seen her, and she wished she could ask how that job had gone. Other than well enough for her to be alive, clearly. |
