It could be worse. They could all be dead. Or either of them could be left alone without another of their kind in the world for the rest of their long lasting life. And Zander had feared that indeed. But he would still be grumpy on th subject whether or not Grayson had a point or not. Call him possessive of his presumed dead brother, but, he didn't plan on letting him out of reach as much as possible.
With a light sigh, Zander folded his arms and looked about them. "It's no more mine than it is anyone else's. Just bigger than anything we ever knew..not that you're not ever so plucky about the whole thing." No rules, a vast open world to explore when they weren't tethered to their duty that no longer existed. "I obviously work here due to our time constraints. Think my boss appreciates having the security." Despite everything that happened, a Gargoyle would always be protective of the innocent, fight for peace and rid what they deemed evil.
"I also take shifts guarding the bridge to the city." Something he felt right in doing. And that eventually he'd find another of his own. Most importantly, it was how he met Nerissa. For a moment the corner of Zander's lips tugged and he looked at the ground sheepishly. "I uh, I've got a girl." He would probably be the last of the two to ever have a someone yet Zander had been charmed by the Sea Serpent's wit and affections. Something positive to speak of out of any of this. "Her name is Nerissa, we met while on guarding duty and things just happened." A really awful explanation of the evolution of their relationship--one of the most important of Zander's life, but he was still a silly man after all, and never thought he'd be sharing this with his brother. "You're a lot alike, I think. She's very...to the point. When you have the time I'd like you to meet her."
