“Not really spoken to many folk around here,” Bree responded, taking a breath to dissipate the way she bristled at the slight amusement that crossed over Jayati’s face at the fact that she hadn’t known the woman was a dragon. She was schooling herself to calm her shit; she wasn’t being attacked or humiliated right now so there was no need for her defences to leap into action. Still, it was hard.
She just nodded, digging the spoon into the chilli and eating, refraining from just wolfing it down because she was hungrier than she thought. She sipped at her drink, eyebrow raised.
