"Mm," Clara hummed, pleased as the drink was passed over. "Fresh lemonade is pretty hard to beat," she agreed. Curling her fingers around the glass, she drew it towards her and pinched a straw from beside the register, dropping it into the glass and watching it as it sunk into the drink. The bubbles clung to the plastic, and did so even as she wrapped her lips around the top of the straw, sipping as she watched Danny leaning forward.
Shew knew that meant he was hiding from the other patrons, and rather selfishly she delighted in it a little. She hadn't felt important or worthy of attention in a while and sometimes - though she didn't need it - it was nice. She ducked her head to hide her smile, tucking her hair back out of habit anyway, which did nothing to hide the gentle flush on her cheeks.
"Yeah, I- uh, I've been travellin' for a year, but I'm from Texas originally. That's where my moms live." She caught his use of 'too', and so responded to his questions before asking her own. "It's alright, not used to bein' around so many folk that... y'know, ain't totally human." She dropped her voice at that, like she didn't want to offend anyone, a little bashful expression crossing her face. "But- you said 'too', so you're new? How long've you been here?"
