Cohen wasn’t typically the one who made deliveries when someone ordered from Long Way Down, but it was a slow day behind the bar. There was only so many things he could find to clean, and not enough people to hold his attention. At least at the moment. Business always moved like a water’s ebb and flow, which meant there would probably be a rush as soon as he was back from delivering the order to Josie’s Arcade. At which point he’d at least have a reprieve from sitting and thinking about the unique and entertaining woman he’d met at Nerissa’s party. He wasn’t sure how he’d managed not to figure out who she’d been at least, but that entire night had been a blur honestly. Only the smiles and easy compliments remained.
The arcade was a place he hadn’t been to before. Games were fun, but he tended to avoid places with large amounts of people and a lot of noise if he could help it. Unless someone he knew wanted him to go, he probably wouldn’t have ventured there at all. He did know there was a new owner, something he’d heard murmurs of while working, but that was about as far as his knowledge went. At any rate, he was hoping to have this delivery taken care of fairly quickly. Maeve had mentioned she was leaving town and putting him on a schedule with one of the new hires so he could help as needed and he didn’t want to leave her on her own for too long. As he entered the building, he couldn’t help taking in the bright lights that flashed from various games. The noise wasn’t too bad yet, but Cohen could already envision how it would be with more people. His eyes swept the place, looking for someone who was in charge or at least might know where this was supposed to go, since there wasn’t a name with the order. Cohen’s eyes stopped on a young woman sitting behind the prize desk, which he figured was as good a place as any to start. Heading over, he gave a tentative smile as he waited for her to notice him. “I have an order from Long Way Down?” He paused, looking at the receipt. “It just says P under name.” |
