Thankfully, Thistle’s melodramatic exposé on how his life had been a rollercoaster. Errol had little time, as it was, for the misfortunes of others. When they were ones born of stupidity, as his regretfully had been, it was not something to pity. But to point to when the complaints came about. He had no one to blame but himself, after all. It was why he let the chilled tone slide. There was nothing worthwhile in that battle. Such old issues to be dragged on for so long. It was nothing more than a childish statement, after all. Instead, Errol made himself comfortable where he sat and patiently waited for his son, perched upon the counter as some undisciplined child would, to be an adult and join him.
When his offer was declined, Errol simply flicked his wrist again and the chair returned to its spot. There was a tightness to his jaw now. The man was growing tired of this act. He had tried to raise the boy better than this, but it seemed as though one with enough determination could remain disappointingly childish. There was a long pause after Thistle’s biting remarks. A moment to compose himself rather than let his desire to put the boy in his place. Speaking as though he had any actual understanding of just what being a father entailed. As though he understood being someone of any actual renown meant. He was a lie of a gentleman. Someone with a flair and flamboyance than mocked his actual heritage and upbringing.
“It may be truly shocking to know that there is more to our world than marrying and procreating, son,” he finally replied. Though the pulsing of irritation leaked into the air despite his attempts to stay calm. “She has decided to explore the world at large. As she is capable, I find it fair to let her experience the world and decide where she wishes to be.” Errol’s jaw clenched. He did not like it. He did not want his other child to leave. Her happiness, however, outweighed his own dislike and distrust for the mundane world. Losing her over this was not something he wanted to have happen. His nose flared with clear dislike for the taste of the words forming on his tongue. “And it is for this reason, I am here to request you do your part as her brother to watch over her in this world.”
