Cling too like a limpet may have been an exaggeration, but she wouldn't correct him on it. It was nice to have someone around who knew what she was but didn't look at her as sheriff. Plus if there was a brawl - and there had been in the past, lord knew it - as long as they stayed on the human side of the border she wasn't too worried about him. Or at least, wasn't too worried about him not bouncing up if he took a hit to the face (it couldn't get much stranger looking at least).
He definitely got more pleasant to hang around after he got over his shock the one time she got angry and a few patches of scales popped up. You'd think he'd never met a Dragon before. Still. If he had adjusted to not thinking she was something from Le Morte d'Arthu she had adapted to not seeing him as a kid. Mostly. Until he opened his mouth of course.
"You hear that Ralph?" Jayati took the shot in rough but at least clean (this time) hands as her own lips twitched into something that resembled fondness if you squinted and stood on one foot, "Chavez here thinks you're pretty, ain't that the sweetest thing you've heard today?" The man laughed as he waved at them before wandering off to actually, you know, work or whatever. Jayati nodded her thanks at him before tipping the rum back in one go, enjoying the burn of it down her throat even if it didn't give her quite the buzz under her skin it might have for a human. Took a bit more than that. The taste was still good though.
