Ah, you be young. Or maybe to be young with no responsibilities. Jayati envied Charlotte that, honestly. Even if the girl was clearly five shades of trouble, most were around here anyway. It was probably harmless trouble. Probably. "I'll tell you the same thing as I tell everyone else, this isn't a human city with their values. You only really have to worry about me if you're putting others in danger," Jayati gave a half shrug, "We frown on stealing too, but if you steal in this town I may not have to do anything about it." There were those here who obeyed laws far older than Jayati was and might see anyone with their possessions in hand as fair game. Hopefully, she was smart enough to have gleaned that on her own though.
What she did outside of Summerview? Well, Jayati didn't give two shits about that, as long as she didn't drag anything over that bridge.
She popped another piece of flaky croissant in her mouth, tasting an almost distant sort of sweetness. Like honey butter, but instead of it being spread over the pastry with a knife it was as if it had been baked into it. Even better, the bit of tension in her skin that was always there when she went to long on two legs was fading as she ate. Hm.
"It's a small town. You'll definitely see them again. Bad and good parts to that." Rumors traveled faster than she did on a good wind, that was for sure, and she had seen one of her few deputies spend a month avoiding a drunken hookup without much success. She took another sip of her drink, not quite hiding the quirk of her lips in amusement at the memory.
