They were interrupted by one of the kids young men behind the counter arriving with a tray and their order. Jayati grasped her mug almost as soon as it was placed in front of her, soaking of the warmth with a hardly noticeable pleased smile. Just because she ran hot didn't mean she didn't gravitate towards hot things.
The small plate with her croissant, on the other hand, was gently pushed towards the middle of the table for optimal sharing.
Charlie's smile caught her off guard, and it showed on her face, "Really? Not everyone likes authority figures." It was a bit of a question, but it was left as an optional one, the solitary eyebrow that rose more out of amusement and curiosity than skepticism. Though it was a bit confusing, just not in an alarming way
Ah, bartender. Nothing wrong with that. Jayati had even done a few brief stints at that, though not in America and not for a good while. It was a good job for the young, "Let me guess, two of the boxes are getting paid and working with people?" Jayati asked her before taking a tentative sip of her drink, and immediately stared at it for a moment before taking another, a bit more than just a pleasant taste and good temperature making her feel lighter. Or at least, she suspected such. Maybe it was the company. It wasn't alarming at least, so she helped herself to the pastry she had ordered, tearing a flaky, steaming piece of croissant off the plate, relishing the smell as it broke open.
