Charlie gave her a warm smile. Light was radiating through the window and actually seemed to light up the woman's face. She was rather beautiful, wasn't she? Not subjectively, but objectively. Something Jay probably got told all the time. It wasn't hard for Charlie to see the beauty in people, even when it wasn't obvious like that. Maybe it was a oneness with the ocean or maybe a little bit of a natural positivity. It was probably the one thing her mother had liked about her toward the end, right before she first left home.
It'd been a while since she'd called home...
"Oh, totally will. You can have a bite if you want," she offered. The woman was paying for the damned thing after all. "So what do you do here? I mean, job wise? What a boring question, I know, but..." Charlie finished with a shrug. It was one of those things that came up no matter what. Jay definitely was something hands-on, she thought, deciding to start guessing and keep on guessing until she answered. The way she looked around wasn't the way desk-jockey's glanced like that. Or maybe it was just that it was part of the persona she'd unwittingly built for Jay in her mind. Either way, not an insurance agent.
