Yes, Marie could tell the other woman liked black - ebony, shall we say? Onyx? It was a shade that worked well with many skin tones and figures, but while Marie could appreciate a nice little cocktail dress there wasn't any need to look like a shapeless void, in her opinion.
"A badass party," she nodded, finding the description amusing. "Yes, I see - okay, let's just..."
The store really was organized strangely, all haphazard-like. But Marie had been shopping here so often, she found some semblance of genius in the madness. "You get used to the disarray," she said, leading the way to another section of dresses. "Begin to pick out patterns of how things are organized if you come here enough."
She studied her companion, guessing her size - Marie was very good at this, she really only needed a glance (a skill that had taken a lot of practice to hone, because many thrift shop finds were a gamble in terms of whether or not they fit). Then she pulled a few selections off the rack. "You are very nicely proportioned, you do not want something frumpy," she frowned at the idea, no, that would not do. "Try one of these."
All were ebony - one sleeveless, with pretty black lace overlaying a cream-toned lining. One with sheer sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, and form-hugging material. And another with an off-the-shoulder, a-line silhouette, and three-quarter sleeves. "Is it an outdoor or indoor party?"
