If she were being completely honest with herself, Everleigh would've been content to keep ignoring the old Mustang that had been sitting at her step-dad's house. The project she had started all those years ago with her dad had just been a painful reminder of losing her childhood hero, and she hadn't had the courage to face it.
Now it seemed like she didn't have much of a choice. Gary wanted the car gone. He had a new love, a new life, and he wanted to be rid of any remaining reminders of his old one. In a way, she supposed she couldn't blame him. Memories could be painful. Hence why the car had still been sitting out back at his place. Ever was grateful for her boss. He'd been right, Gidget was indeed a lady who had been neglected for far too long. Gary's call had been the final little push she'd needed - it was time to either pick the project back up, or get rid of the car. She'd opted for the former. Which is what had her out back at the shop, hood popped, and a wrench in her hand. Slayer was blasting directly into her brain through her earbuds, and her focus was solely on the car. Some people did yoga. This was her zen. |
