"Fair. I don't know how they enjoy the giant cities." Enjoy was chosen rather than live or even endure because she had lived in big cities here and there. They were good places to find work, and before that, Lalita had loved the mesh of cultures there.
Jayati scoffed, albeit in a subdued way, "You could get any type of food in this town. I've definitely had Haggis being served here." Which brought her a nostalgic smile to her face before she turned her eyes from the sky back to him, "How long have you been in the country then?" The facts that she had memorized about people, some more than others, didn't include that sort of thing unless it would make them a possible threat for some reason.
The wistful expression turned as she laughed and licked her lips, "Not with me and mine, no." It was almost hammy, but she was in a good mood, so it happened anyway. Surprising most, Jayati was far into the less secretive members of town, so his question didn't bother her. "I'm careful. But it's happened on occasion, yes, and still I will continue to do so. Not for longer than, say, a week, as long as I work here though." She didn't resent them for the job she had traveled for and taken up voluntarily, but the longing was there, the missing.
