the wall - dr pepper + razzles
He felt ...out of place.
Aesthetically, Lucas looked amazing, thanks to help from his nurse assistant. He wasn't sure how she had done it but somehow, she had managed to put together a bunch of different pieces of clothing on him and make him look actually decent! Like he belonged in this fantastical beautiful place. Even his hair was on point, thanks to the barbershop he zipped into on lunch break.
But as dashing as he looked (and he'd checked the mirror a few times, god help his vanity), it did not do much for how he felt underneath it all.
Like he truly was putting on a facade. A mask. A ruse. He was being something that he wasn't. Perhaps because in a small way, this reminded him of his days as a child when his parents would put him in wonderful clothes and fix him up nice and put him out onto the stage like a savior while they stole from their own church. Charlatans. Fakes.
Even though his power had been real, it had left him feeling ... the very opposite.
This was also his first party here in Summerview and Lucas wanted to make a good impression. He had a drink in his hand and stayed in the back, near one of the many walls. Though the wine wasn't much to his taste, he sipped away anyhow. By the third glass, it was tasting much better. Or he'd gotten a different wine, he wasn't sure. Honestly, he was having fun watching other people. Maybe he also gave a young girl the gift of not having to endure a major headache during the party, without telling her of course. But other than that, Lucas largely stayed out of everyone's way.
