Gawain looked up at the sound of Savage's voice, managing a smile despite the topic of the report he was reading.
"Savage, sit down, please," he said, nodding to one of the many empty chairs. Somehow the tables at table of the Chief Auror always filled up last. At least he knew it wasn't just him - he'd noticed the phenomenon when Rufus was Chief Auror as well. "Just catching up on some reports. It seems we're having more and more these days."
And far too many were going unsolved. He had the fullest confidence in his men (and women, he added to himself belatedly), but there were only so many cases one department could handle with the current staffing numbers. They needed more Aurors and despite Rufus in the Minister's office, the funding wasn't coming through to hire more.
