Melinda nodded, debating about taking two as suggested. She hardly needed the second package of chocolates, but she could keep one in her desk, for emergencies. Satisfied that she had a reasonable excuse for two packages, she set them into her basket.
"I'm in the new department - well, the new sub-department. We're in the MLE, but we focus on the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects. You know all those stupid little men out in Diagon pawning their ridiculously overpriced amulets? So far only one in ten has proven to have any sorts of protective qualities at all."
Thinking a moment, Melinda frowned. "He's all right, I suppose. I haven't really spoken to him - he was the head of the MLE before Scrimgeour resigned, so I saw him once or twice there, but never to talk to, of course." Things had gotten strange since Thicknesse had become Minister, though she wasn't sure how to put that into words, especially to someone she didn't know. "Do you work at the Ministry?"
