"I wouldn't expect you to," he said, knowing fully well that once her mind was set on something, it was nearly impossible to dissuade her. His brows quirked when she told him not to worry about her--also an impossible task. "I'm sure there are," he said, thinking of the late nights to come. "And you're right. I have been helping, but it's a damn site harder than it's been, and I can't just go anywhere anymore." And when he did, he had to be careful.
He was fairly certain that someone had been directed to follow him; it was a feeling he recognized all too well from the past. His connection to Harry was no secret, and he suspected they were hoping that he'd lead them to Harry. Leading them to Order Headquarters would be just as bad.
Thinning his lips, he looked her over and wrapped his fingers around hers. Whatever was bothering her was important, and he felt a stab of fear as she began to stammer. His jaw clenched and he willed the tremor out of his voice.
