Hestia bit her lip. She wanted to tell him that it was for his good that she'd chosen to make the choices that she had, she wanted to tell him that she wouldn't be fighting with him and hurting their chances of being together if she didn't care about him, but she kept quiet. "Then perhaps it's for the best, Viktor. I can't be with anybody right now," she said, steeling her face for whatever came next.
Right now Hestia wanted to fall apart, but she kept her emotions from her face. This, really, was why she didn't do well in relationships; she eventually broke things off because of the stress, but she always waited until she really liked somebody before deciding that the relationship was a bad idea. "I'll send you an owl about the event," Hestia said as she stood from the bar. "Good night, Viktor," she said before she placed a few coins next to her empty plate.
Hestia moved outside as quickly as she could, stopping for a moment once she she'd reached Diagon Alley. She breathed deeply as she finally dropped her firm expression. She had been happy to finish the Davies case at the hospital, and she had been happy to see Viktor, at first, but now she knew that she wouldn't really be happy until she got Viktor out of her system and focused herself on her work.
