RP: An apple a day...
Date: 26 October 1997, Afternoon
Characters: Hestia Jones, Roger Davies
Location: St. Mungo's
Status: Semi-Private(Ping if you have a reason to interrupt?)
Summary: Roger comes in for a check-up
Completion: InComplete

When Roger Davies had turned up in her ward at St. Mungo's soon after Remus and Hestia had left his flat(Hestia refused to think of it as a crime scene), his injuries were much worse than Hestia had thought they would be. She'd stunned him, and she knew that the spell had hit him square in the chest, but she'd never counted on him collapsing into his coffee table. The table was ruined by Roger's fall, but she simply hadn't had the time to check his wounds before she and Remus fled Roger's flat with the recovered journal. It was probably for the best, it would have been off for intruders to heal their victim.

She couldn't find a way around calling Roger a victim, and that frustrated Hestia. It had been over two weeks since the break-in, but Hestia was still mulling over what she and Remus had done. It wasn't right that Roger had gotten mixed up in the Order's mess, he was an innocent bystander, and none of this would have happened if the twins had been responsible with the journal in the first place. That, at least, was what Hestia told herself to lessen the guilt. She had to convince herself of her own innocence if she wanted to convince anybody else of it, after all, and that was necessary. Judging by her schedule for the day, Hestia was due to run Mr. Davies' check-up examination for the injuries he'd sustained during the altercation. She steeled her face before entering the examination room where he was waiting.

Roger wasn't in pain. He was a bloody fit man, both in relation to looks and general wellness. This, unfortunately, did not make him invincible, as he could tell by the slight twinge in the back of his neck when he turned it slightly. Indeed, although Roger could scarcely remember exactly what it was that had happened the Saturday before last, he could still feel a twinge here and there as he moved about. It hadn't affected his work in the least, although it was what had brought Roger back to St. Mungo's that day. Following the attack by what Roger had decided was assassins, though bleeding idiots, Roger had spent a few days in St. Mungos under the watchful eyes of OCD healers. He had only been released after swearing that he would return in a week for them to check and make sure that the muscles were healing properly.

As a result of his attack, Roger had received more than his share of cuts and bruises in addition to the massive laceration to the back of his head and concussion. The spells had healed all superficial wounds, but the healers still wanted to ensure that the muscles weren't affected, or that's what he was told. He didn't really mind though work had given him a few days off to heal, and he'd been spending most of the time with Mel. If she wasn't annoying him about the same amount he was annoying her, he'd probably feel bad about it, but as it was he was rather enjoying sponging off of her and avoiding his flat. Besides for all he knew the intruders were after him to make sure he missed all of his games.

Right now, however, Roger was staring at the door of the examination room. As usual, he was being keep waiting, and he was really rather bored. He sighed, eyes moving up to the ceiling now as he softly drummed his fingers on the side of the chair he currently occupied. When the door opened again, Roger's eyes flew back to the door and he smiled. About time.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Davies," Hestia said with a smile as she entered the examination room. At least he didn't appear too unwilling to be in the hospital today, and while Hestia planned to make sure that his injuries were well cared for, she also wanted to complete this examination as quickly as possible. "I'm not sure if you remember me from our last meeting, you were in quite a state. I'm Healer Jones," she said as she extended her hand.

"First," Hestia began, getting down to business. It wasn't likely that Roger wanted to be here longer than he absolutely had to be. "If you have any complaints about the care you received upon your admittance to the hospital, you should take your concerns up with administration," she recited as she opened his patient file.

"Now, how are you feeling today?" she asked as she turned to him. "I see that most of the superficial woulds were healed quickly after you arrived at the hospital, but how are your muscles?" This would be easy if she was mechanical, working routinely through the exam. She was a Healer and Roger Davies was her patient (although her mind continued to remind her that he was her victim).

Roger nodded as the healer entered the room. Of course he didn't exactly remember her name, but her face was nice enough, and Roger tended to remember pictures much better, although that was more his photographic memory than anything else, though Mel did like to call him a lech for it.

His brows furrowed as she spoke. Complaints? What the hell kind of complaints could he possibly have? It wasn't like they'd tied him down or anything. Nevertheless he shook his head in response to the comment. He supposed it was necessary, though it was kinda annoying.

When she finally turned her attention to him, Roger shrugged his shoulders. "I'm fine really. Pains almost all gone," he said, flashing her a massive smile. He grinned as she asked about his muscles. "They're fine, see?" he said as he flexed for her, giving her a wink as he did. His hand moved down to the edge of his shirt, wondering whether she'd want to check out his abs too. "Do you need a closer look?"

"Good," Hestia responded as she made a note on his chart. "Then it seems the potions have been doing their job. I'll send you out with a few vials that should help you through the rest of the week." At least he was smiling, and he didn't seem to have any complaints about his care. Hestia wasn't sure what she'd do if she had to respond to any complaints he made about the care he'd received from the hospital; she just wanted to be finished with the case.

She couldn't help the way that her lips quirked at his unexpected exhibition. She hadn't been expecting that. "Yes, I see, Mr. Davies," Hestia said as she stood from her seat. "Although I believe the injuries you sustained mostly damaged your back, yes?"

"To make sure that you're healing properly, a closer look would probably be for the best," Hestia continued. She gestured to the table on the other side of the room. "If you don't mind, that is," she added before making another note on his chart, giving Roger time to situate himself on the table.

Roger nodded with a smile. He grinned widely as he watched the older woman's lips twitch just a little. He expected that much, and it pleased him to see her amused. "Well, granted, it was my back that was affected, but those muscles look just as lovely," he said with a grin as he winked at her again. What could he say? He liked to flirt, and it wasn't like she was ugly.

"Right. You want a good look, no worries, I can oblige," Roger said with a chuckle and a cheeky grin as he whipped off his shirt and headed toward the table. Assuming she needed to check out his back, Roger laid down on the table as requested on his chest, folding his hands under his head and resting his chin on his arms. He rather felt like he was preparing for a massage, without the fun massage bits.

Well, he certainly seemed sure of himself. Hestia was used to dealing with many different personalities when she examined patients, but she wasn't sure she'd ever had a patient with such a lively personality. She was rather sure that she'd seen better, and Hestia stopped her mind from wandering to Viktor and how he might compare. "They may be lovely," Hestia stated dryly, "But they're hardly worth anything if they don't work properly."

The superficial wounds had healed nicely, Hestia observed. She stepped away from the table for a moment to make a note in Roger's file. "Tell me if anything feels uncomfortable," she instructed before she began to move her wand along his back, checking to make sure that his muscles were healing on schedule.

"How does that spot feel?" Hestia asked as she lightly pressed her palm into an area beneath his shoulder blade that might be causing him a bit of trouble.

Roger rolled his eyes at Hestia's comments. Leave it to old women not to understand subtle humour or the finer points of flirting. Then again he supposed it really didn't matter at all. "Right. Will do," Roger responded at her question, as he stared at the far wall and prepared for whatever it was she wanted to do.

Roger hissed just a little as Hestia managed to hit just the right spot. Okay that hurt. Trying to play it off though, Roger shook his head just a little, "Just a bit sore, really."

"But it does feel a bit worse than the rest, doesn't it?" Hestia asked as she applied a few charms to the area. Roger really didn't need to answer the question, she could tell from the slight wince that the pressure certainly hadn't felt pleasant.

"I think that the extra charms, and the additional potions, should help you through the worst of it," Hestia said as she stepped away from the examination table to finish Roger's charts. "But if you don't think that something's healed properly, don't hesitate to schedule another appointment, Mr. Davies," Hestia said.

"And you can put your shirt on now, if you'd like," she said with a smirk. Physically speaking, Roger Davies' body was rather pleasing to look at, Hestia couldn't deny that, but there was something in knowing that it had only taken her a few minutes to send him through his coffee table that didn't really attract Hestia to him. And flirting with a patient was always improper, she reminded herself. Hestia was simply happy that she'd have this case out of the way.
