Owl: Fred Weasley
Date: 25 October 1997
Characters: Justin Finch-Fletchley, Fred Weasley
Location: Respective
Status: Private
Summary: Justin tries owling a trustworthy source to find out what's going on.
Completion: Complete

There was a lot to consider when sending an owl, especially to someone like Fred Weasley, who it was safe to assume may be somewhat notorious. For instance, were owls being watched? Should he use some sort of code? Would Fred remember him from the DA?

Justin had reached the point where he was desperate for news from home, however. He didn't trust the Prophet to report true and accurate facts, and if he was honest, he hadn't since fifth year. He thought it was worth a shot, at the very least, and had chosen to write Fred because he'd been a member of the DA and was no longer at Hogwarts. It was also very hard to imagine a Weasley going rogue. He sincerely hoped he wasn't wrong about that.

In the end, he decided to keep it vague, in case owls were being monitored. If he didn't hear back, well, at least he had tried.

Fred,

I hope this owl finds you well. I had heard that your brother Ron was suffering from Spattergroit, and wanted to send along my well wishes. I've also been away on a holiday, of sorts, and was wondering if there was any news you could share.

Sincerely,
Justin
